We took our four kids for a picnic one day and walked around. There are beautiful views! There is a steeper way down to the beach near the historic home, which couldn't accommodate our stroller, but there was another path that we could get our stroller down. We saw a porcupine walking on the beach as we walked down the path! We visited twice and the visitor centre and washrooms were closed both times, but perhaps they are open in the summer. There is an outhouse we found, but BYOTP. ;) We also found the gates locked, although the signs said it was open, so we had to park on the road which was a little extra walk.

There are so many features to this nature park. The vista onto the St. Croix River as it bends south towards Passamaquoddy Bay, is ever changing, since the dramatic Bay of Fundy tide is part of this water system. Hike along the shore line or take a path through the forest to where you emerge onto boulders for a panoramic view. Someone who knows about traditional Passamaquoddy medicine took my class on a walk there, showing us what the trees, bushes and seaweed have to offer: amazing! This place has huge potential: looking forward to hopefully cross-country ski here in winter, and, to renting kayaks in the summer, for a paddle up to Spoon Island, or, down to St. Croix Island, where in 1604 Champlain and co. spent the winter.

Easy walking trails make this park a good place to go for a walk. Cost of admission is normally through donation (suggested is 2$ each). However, we lucked out and were there for the lumberjack competition, so enjoyed a day of watching some lumberjacks and Jill’s show their strength.

The Ganong Nature Park is a great spot very convenient to St. Stephen where you can enjoy walking and gentle hiking on several kilometers of marked trails including several access points to natural beaches to explore if it is during low tide. The Lookout Trail is particularly lovely with several sections through dense forest and beautiful ferns leading up to an exposed rock outcropping with an impressive view of the water.

I'm not sure how this review escaped me, I'm sorry to not get it up here sooner! This was a lovely place to stop on a long trip. The trails were a nice walk, and the family that maintains it is friendly and nice. I called ahead to ask about charging my electric car overnight and camp in it- they agreed right away, then left the gate open for me since I was going to arrive after hours.

I must admit I saw this park as a lovely green area on the Canadian side of the St Croix River. Interesting statue - not sure what it is - with flower beds and a wide vista of beautiful countryside on both sides looking along the river. Neat lighthouse and something fascinating about standing there and realizing that it's a whole different country on the other side of the river! I did not realize there were walking trails but then we wouldn't have had long enough to enjoy them on this trip anyway. Really enjoyed walking along the main street in St. Stephen - there's another park too on the way.

While visiting the Chocolate Museum, I saw mention of the Ganong Nature Park, so we decided to go. A number of nice walking trails. Very peaceful location.

Ganong Nature Park's winter solstice event was the perfect event for a family! With organic craft-making and live music, to hayrides and a marshmallow roast in the field. It was the perfect outing for a family.

Back to nature. Lots of walking trails. On the water. Easy walks and some more strenuous. Great place to take the dog for a walk and a swim. We try to go often. There are picnic tables for eating and lots of places to just be and enjoy.

Can you see St Croix Island from the park ? If so, where is the best view, from the boulders at the end of the forest trail or from the beach or from some other point?
Thanks for any info you can give me.
