Great views
Sep 2020
It is a scenic drive to get to the lighthouse. The lighthouse itself makes for a good stop. The lighthouse itself is well preserved and the photo's inside are informative.
$6 / person entry fee to climb to the top - with good views. Staff was great and provided interesting historical adjuncts.

Visiting Miscou Island
Aug 2020
No visit to Miscou Island is complete without a trip to the lighthouse at the top of the island. Beautiful views and interesting history of an old lighthouse.

To the World's end

Winter or summer, you must go up to Miscou island lighthouse, where birds turn back. Try to be there for sunrise. Then you will be able to say " i went to the World's end.

Beautiful and natural. Beach close by to visit as well. The Moss turns like autumn leaves in the fall. Would have loved to see the colours against the lakes.

Absolutely beautiful island
Aug 2019
One of the few places left in it's natural state. Cottages dot the island in this quaint seaside town. The beaches are pristine & not crowded. Spectacular views from the top of the lighthouse. If you are looking for beach glass & rocks, this is the mecca. Birding & awesome colors in fall.

Excellent visit to the Miscou Island Lighthouse
Aug 2019
We were two adults that visited this site on August 26, 2019. If you come to New Brunswick, then this lighthouse and surroundings are well worth a visit. A lighthouse visit costs $ 6. At the top of the lighthouse there was a guide who explained surroundings, history of the lighthouse etc.. Very interesting. However, he returns to university tomorrow so that might be the end of having a guide. This lighthouse is the oldest in New Brunswick and is very well maintained. There are gazebos and picnic tables scattered throughout the site. Everything is very clean.

There's also a souvenir shop on site and we managed to pick up a few souvenirs. There's also a small restaurant on site. It is mainly a soup, sandwich & dessert place. However, they also serve a late breakfast as they only open at 11 a.m. They are closed on Tuesdays. If you wish to eat outside, they have a terrace. The restaurant is cute enough. They have original paintings on the walls, which are for sale. We ordered the vegetable soup, which was excellent. My friend had the BLT and I had a grilled cheese & ham sandwich. Both sandwiches were very good. While eating you can look outside and observe the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Great view. The washrooms in the restaurant were very clean.

A nice place to see
Jul 2019 • Family
We went to visit this site as a couple of families with children 9-12 years old. Adults ranged from 33-60 years old. We live in the east coast already so we did not find this beach to be the most beautiful one we have seen already. If you are not from Atlantic Canada it very well might be. They have multiple natural beaches on this island you can visit. They also have no stores or gas stations so prepared prior to getting on the island. There is no charge to cross the bridges to get here either which is a plus! It is $6 per adult $4 per child to go up to the top of the lighthouse. There is someone at the top to give you some information about the lighthouse and he scenery from above. We went in the summer months however October (4-9ish) is the time to go as the moss changes colour. We grabbed a few ice creams at the store here. The store was filled with local art and souvenirs. There was no AC and the wait time took a while. For us this was one of those trips we go to see just the once. We did see some people boondocking nearby with the trailers if that is something of interest.

Beautiful Lighthouse - Worth Your Visit!
Aug 2018 • Couples
This is an incredibly well-preserved lighthouse (the oldest in N.B.) and yes, there is a charge to climb to the top but c'mon, money has to pay to keep this place going so trust me, $4 Canadian (about $3+ U.S.) is well worth the price for a gorgeous view. The lighthouse stairs are probably THE FINEST and sturdiest stairs in any lighthouse I've ever climbed and that alone, makes this visit not only safe, but easy except for the last nearly vertical climb to the light and surrounding walk-around at the top offering beautiful views as far as across to the Gaspe in Quebec! The drive to the tip of Miscou is interesting and if you're an intrepid bicyclist the ride (about 13 miles from the bridge onto Miscou Island) is almost completely flat with basically no climbs (just headwinds or tailwinds depending on the day).

There is an overpriced restaurant next to the lighthouse that tries hard but the food is only average (seafood chowder was lukewarm with an ice cold half a shelled lobster claw for garnish). Rolls are flavorless and the "salad" is a mayo and broccoli/cauliflower melange that you can buy locally in a supermarket for a lot less than they charge here ($18 Canadian). However, I'd just go for the coffee. The adjoining gift shop is filled with some "local" jewelry and other souvenir-type stuff (all made in China). There is ice cream, though.

Miscou Island is a surprising find and it is virtually all French-speaking as is the general northeastern part of N.B. with its strong Acadian ties.

**If you are visiting and are looking for the BEST lobster in Atlantic Canada you have found the center of the universe for Acadian hard shell lobster. The nearby town of Lameque has a large fisherman's fleet and also sports a seafood store with the sweetest lobster I've ever had. We feasted on big clawed 1-3/4lb. lobster 3x's while in Miscou and you only need ask around and a local will point you in the right direction. P.S. They take cash AND credit/debit cards ... GO!

Beautiful place! So peaceful.
The drive of all Miscou island was easy, beautiful to see the ocean along the way.

There is a gift shop at the lighthouse & you can also climb the steps of the lighthouse to the top for a fee.
