    Helpful Tour Guide
We visited the NB Railway Museum as we were driving through Hillsborough. The Museum had a lot of artifacts of days when trains were very important to life in NB. Steve Milburn, a tour guide , was very helpful explaining how the old steam engines worked years ago. He even took a picture for us on his phone and forwarded it to our e-mail address as we had left our phone in the car.

A Wonderful Look into the History of Trains in NB!
This is a fabulous hidden gem for those who love trains and would like to hear more about the history of trains in NB. The guides know their stuff and have personal stories to tell. There a quite a few trains that you can climb up into including a beautiful pullman car. There are a lot of unique trains here including possibly the only double snowplow left in Canada. They have a steam engine, crane, a huge barn museum full of antiques and they even do hay rides for the kids sometimes on a small train car.

What a great place !

The staff were friendly and very very knowledgeable -

two adults and two teens - we could have spent more time there! not only was their history to read and look at but a lot of it was accessible to touch and climb on.

The teens loved seeing what the inside of an engine looked like and the old caboose while the adults were fascinated by the rail snowplow and the history of the rail system.

Great if you are on your way back from Hopewell Rocks - there's a small area for a picnic lunch here.

Small gift shop but a LOT of great things inside.

Ask questions! we learned just as much from reading as we did from talking to the staff.
Definitely visiting again on our next trip out east!

This small muesum is well worth the stop. We got to walk through on our own and the guy had said we could touch and climb on anything that is not roped off as it would be impossible to break anything...proof is was made a long time ago...lol
I still cannot believe how much stuff they jammed in this muesum. There was about 6 trains in a big shed you could climb on and walk through or look in.
We thought by the look of it we would be in and out in less then 15 mimutes but we spent at least and hour and the kids still wanted to stay longer.
The big shed could be cleaned up alot to make it more appealing but we didnr care almost felt like the workers had just lwft foethe day.

Small Museum but an amazing array of railway cars including some very unique equipment like the train snowplows. The jet nearby is the only Canadian fighter plane to carry nuclear weapons. For railway lovers, this is a must see.

we went on the steam train for a ride years ago and it was like stepping back in time, a lot of hard work has gone into it by everyone so that we all can see how things were in the past

This hidden gem is located in the quaint, little village of Hillsboroug, just a 15-20 drive from Moncton center. Visitors who seek a great history lesson of the railroad in Canada will love this place. We really enjoyed the old pictures, the stories, the walk through the old coaches.

I must say its worth the trip to this museum. One of us is especially into trains (hobbyists and family history) and boy you tough he was gone to heaven. I really enjoyed each part of the museum and we Were lucky to hit a conversation with one of the volunteers, the chap took the time to show us around. But even by yourself it's a grat place. There is so much to see. Really awesome. And you'll sfee things that are nowhere else. Quality items and dont miss the visit to the back building. We saw many of the neibourhood young persons spend time there, gotta be good!

My husband really enjoyed looking around this museum and especially climbing onto the footplate of the steam engine. There is a fascinating display of artefacts, including some old uniforms. The staff are very knowledgeable and more than willing to answer questions.

This rather underfunded museum nonetheless manages to present an interesting look back at the era of rail travel in New Brunswick. It is located in the former Hillsborough station and rail yard on a now-abandoned CN line. Its steam locomotive is out of service due to boiler problems, but you can still look it over and climb into the cab. There's a good collection of rolling stock, locomotives and railroad equipment as well as a lot of historic photos. Visitors can ride a gas-powered speeder along a short section of the old mainline, while there's also a handcar on which you can have great fun pumping yourself along some yard trackage.

Well worth a visit by anyone having an interest in railway history!
