On a visit to Canada's National Ukrainian Festival at Dauphin, Manitoba, one of the places to visit on the site is the Ukrainian Centennial Memorial Park, Selo Ukraina. The park pays tribute to Ukrainian Canadians who were part of the pioneering group that settled the west and later in two world wars, served in the military to fight for their adopted homeland. The Ukrainian Centennial Memorial Park features the Tomb of the Ukrainian Soldier , the Filip Konowal Victoria Cross monument that acknowledges a Ukrainian-Canadian receiving Canada’s highest honour for valour in combat. The park also recognizes the 80th anniversary of the end of Canada’s First National Internment Operations, and also depicts a commemorative dedication to the memory of victims of the Genocidal Ukraine Great Famine of 1932 to 1933.
