I booked this wonderful adventure for my daughter's 15th birthday. The whole experience was top notch from start to finish. On the short ride from the Village to dog sleds, we were given a brief guide tour of the expanding East Village of Sun Peaks. When we arrived minutes later, everyone was introduced to the beautiful dogs and given a brief history of sled dogs and the particular breed being used and why. My daughter and her best friend then were introduced one by one to the pack of dogs that would be used for their particular sled ride, petting them, getting to know their names, etc. Soon after, they were loaded up onto the sled and the real excitement began as the dogs were harnessed up and clearly raring to go! They had such a great time and will be a fabulous memory forever. They had a quick stop at the lake as the sun was setting and said it was absolutely magical. When they returned, they had the opportunity to go play with the pups and of course loved that. On the way home, the two of them couldn't stop talking about their adventure and when they got home were group chatting with all their friends about what a great time they had. I highly recommend!

We took the "Into the Wild Tour" with guides Simon and Jessica. They were very knowledgable and friendly with us (and with their dogs!). They let us and our teenaged sons drive the sleds for a more than small amount of time, making sure that all were safe and ducking when a stray branch crossed our path. I highly recommend this activity when visiting Sun Peaks as a fun, exciting experience!

The most amazing part about our trip at Sun Peaks! From start to finish this entire experience was incredible. Quick and easy pick up/drop off right in town. The staff was amazing (our guide was Spencer), any questions you could think of they knew the answer right away. Not only did we get the chance to learn about the dogs on the team but we got the chance to bond with them before we went out.
Spencer was an exceptional guide, he gave us each the chance to drive for a while, took photos for us or stopped for good photo ops AND he knew everything about each specific dog that he works with. The track was a beautiful scenic and picturesque route going through both open terrain and the forest.
The pups were all so friendly and happy, we were able to give them a treat and spend time with them after the run, as well as spend time playing in the pen with the new puppies. The staff and the dogs made this entire experience a must-do. Would 100% recommend doing this either with a significant other/friend/family or even alone. I will be back on my next visit!

I really don’t leave often a review and I was debating as we don’t like to complain but I guess after reading all these amazing reviews the expectation was high, we were a bit disappointed about how long the ride was, so I thought it would be good to share this, as you want to be prepared for this.
First of all online it said the bucket list ride was 1,5 hours but instead it is only 1h, which the owners changed right away when I mentioned it after the ride, so that was great. But we left at 11:01 and came back by 11:37 and had a decently long stop wirh the dogs because they didn’t cooperate :-), that was totally fun and thrilling for sure but the reason why I mention it is because is if this wouldn’t of happen we would have been out in the sled for probably less or about 30 min.
Don’t get me wrong the rest of it was great and lots of fun but I just found the price of over $600 because we also left a $75 tip family of 4 for 30 min sledding pretty steep. We understand they take care of the dogs but if I would have known the trip was that short I wouldn’t of booked it. Just good to know I think, please still go there and enjoy it as the owners are wonderful for sure and the dogs too but all I’m saying is that the price for the time you are in the sled for us was disappointing. You can for sure pet the dogs and that’s great and we understand that’s part of the experience too but again for the $ spend and the amount of Time spend in the sled it just doesn’t seem fair to me anymore.

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to review. As you stated, you pointed out a mistake on our website (which was redone just this fall) that we had missed. Both of our tours were listed as 1.5 hours, when in fact the one you booked is a 1 hour experience. This is why there is a significant price difference in the tours. In the tour description, it states that our 5km trail will be approximately 30-40 minutes of trail time. The challenge that occurred on the trail was due to a fix we had made to accommodate mild early season conditions, which was confusing to the dogs. Guests have always been provided the trail time as described. I apologize that the mistake on the website, did not give you the experience you expected.

We added a dog sled adventure to our skiing holiday at Sun Peaks and we all agree it was well worth giving up some time on the slopes.
Chris picked us up and helped load our ski gear into the van. On the way to the sleds he told us about the business and area. When we arrived the dogs were as excited as we were.
We got to meet the teams and then were strapped into the sleds ready to ride. An 8 dog team gave us a brilliant ride through the trails taking in a different view of this beautiful landscape. We all had a once in a lifetime chance to drive the sled and loved it.
When we returned to camp we helped feed the dogs some treats and got to meet the puppies.
The experience was brilliant and the whole team at Mountain Man Dod Sled Adventures did everything they could to make it a memorable afternoon. Definitely make this part of any trip to Sun Peaks area in winter.

A must do bucket list item! The team was delightful from the get go and the dogs are so well cared for. We felt very safe and even got to give driving the sled a go. We did the 10km trip which went through trees and out to a lake which was a winter wonderland and had some opportunities to pat their fury team, they even had puppies. Highly recommend.

We have nothing but praise for this experience. Chris and the team run an outstanding business and the dogs and puppies are clearly happy and well loved. Our guides did a great job - it was near minus 30 out and they went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable, and our time out was everything we hoped for. The scenery is spectacular. A real bucket list treat. A must do whilst in Sun Peaks.

The kids really enjoyed the experience. It was very interesting to learn about the dogs. They are all so sweet and eager to be cuddled and pet. Loved seeing how enthusiastic they all were to head out and pull the sled.
The owners obviously love a care for all the dogs like family.
The ride was amazing to see beyond the roads into the forest. So beautiful in the winter.
We appreciated all the information shared by our guide. He made the kids feel very safe and comfortable especially my younger one who was aittle nervous. That quickly disappeared and she was all smiles. We wish we had gone for the 10km ride vs the 5km but it was still great. We just wanted more :).

This is a must do at Sunpeaks. We came to ski but when we saw the opportunity to spend the afternoon dog sledding we booked ourselves in. Chris is the owner of the company and he is passionate about his dogs. They are family. All 55 of the dogs go to the park with him everyday even if they are not running with the rest of the team including his gorgeous puppies.
Both my husband and I found the afternoon with Mountain Man Dog Sled adventures good for the soul and invigorating and the dogs enjoyed it as much as we did. Chris’s two staff and sled drivers, Jessica and Simon are also as passionate about the dogs as well.
We are booking again this week and taking our grand children who are joining us at Sunpeaks for the week during Spring Break.

We lucked out and had brilliant weather but it wouldn't have mattered as the experience would not have been dampened if the weather was otherwise. Everything went smoothly and as communicated. The owners and sledders obviously love what they do and like their clients also. The dogs are just so wonderful and you can't help but be caught up in their enthusiasm. I can't rate this outing highly enough. Yes, it seems a little expensive when you book but it was so worth it. I've spent a lot more money on experiences and haven't enjoyed them half as much. We would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone. Love the puppies!!!!

What months of the year do the sleds operate . Thank You .Maria
Written May 15, 2017
Hi Maria, We offer from mid December through end of March. Sometimes a week or two extra on either side depending on weather and trail conditions.

Hi there,
We are coming to Sun Peak in Dec/Jan and i know you say the sleds fit 2 comfortably. However, my son will only be 21months so will he fit with my husband and I?
Written July 22, 2015
Thank you for you interest in my company. Our sleds carry 2 people under 350lbs, plus the guide. We also have an age limit of 4 years. Unfortunately your son will have to wait a couple years. Thanks again
