Skied here on way to Terrace, only 3 lifts but great groomers and untracked powder. It's a welcome change from the big expensive resorts

This is a true little known northern gem! I thought I made a mistake by booking a ski weekend during spring break but the hill was anything but crowded and the snow fantastic. Excellent friendly service by all the staff.

If you are a boarder who enjoys nice powder, then Hudson Bay Mountain in Smithers, BC is your hill. The staff, terrain and an end of the day beverage at Whiskey Jacks are all top notch. A

Drove from Terrace to do a day of skiing it takes 2 and half hours each way to drive. Bought my lift ticket at 10:37 am and they shut the hill down at 11:45 am, due to high winds at about 40km hour (a bit breezy).
Don’t bother making the trip to the mountain if you see any winds over 35km an hour. I wish I could have uploaded a video of the light breeze of the wind that was at the top.
When I asked for a refund and I told them my situation they gave me a half day snow cheque that I must use by end of year.
So a word of wisdom, ski Shames mountain if you live west of Smithers or if you live in Prince George go to Powder King Resort.

I enjoy skiing Hudson Bay. It is however not a great option for planning a long week trip since the mountain doesn’t operate due to lack of business but claiming high winds to be the culprit. We didn’t notice any wind on February 5, 2020 while hiking the mountain. They claimed the same on February 4, 2020. The four of wasted two days of our trip in Smithers based on misrepresentation of the mountain for being open during the week and the same about the weather.

The mountain offers runs for all ages and abilities. There are two t-bars and one chairlift. The restaurant has excellent food with a wide variety of choices. The lounge is the place to be apres ski. There are no overnight accommodations however some owners do rent out their cabins. The downtown drive is about 25 minutes with many motels/hotels to choose from.

We love it here. It's worth the drive. Lots of green runs if you are a beginner, the views are spectacular, staff is friendly. If only it was easy to find on hill accommodation, it would be perfect.

We had a wonderful time, the lodge food and drink was excellent. Those servers in there do an incredible job with all those starving skiers and snowboarders.
The runs did not have much snow when we first got there, however it snowed while we were there and it just got better and better. They groomed the mountain just enough for us and its been years since we strapped on a pair of skiies. The only complaint was that the last full day there they closed the yellow tee bar and were not inclined to apologize let alone offer a coupon or refund or anything.. that wasn't so cool
Otherwise was a good time with the family

Unbelievable place you will have nothing but fun despite some rustic ways of getting up the mountain the open glades and powder and cliffs make the wait well worth it.

Found this place by chance 10years ago and loved it so much we bought a cabin!
Quiet compared with big crowded resorts but has all the slopes and facilities needed for great skiing, wonderful people and snow always reliable.

I´m planning to go heliskiing with Last Frontier and warm up a little bit before in Hudson Bay. I need to stay in Smithers and take a bus? Where should I stay? I´ll be by myself

Aspen Inn is decent very popular place to stay. hudson bay lodge is nice but undergoing renovations but still open. sunshine Inn is a very comfortable clean hotel that we stayed in last year and would certainly recommend comes with breakfast. both aspen and sunshine are right in town and can walk anywhere in town from there
