The museum itself is very interesting and informative. We were only able to watch the last 30 minutes of the movie, but we still learned a lot. The exhibits are well-done and recreate some of the living conditions of the men who built the road. The museum guide (person behind the counter) was very helpful in pointing out where there... The Alaska Highway House is a GREAT stop on your way to Alaska. Not only is it a visitor center, but it has museum quality displays and an excellent movie. The staff took time to give us a tour of the museum. What knowledge and what service. It's hard to beat.

Don't miss the Alaska Highway House! There is an excellent movie explaining how the highway was built. There are photos and exhibits from the construction. It is simply amazing and awe inspiring that this highway was built. It is a great beginning to a trip "of a lifetime" on the Alaska Highway. The young woman at the desk even took... More

A great collection of pictures, artifacts, people, etc. involved in the building of the Alaska Highway. The difficulties encountered and the loss of life are really brought home here. Definitely view the video to get the bigger picture of this immense project.

Most have heard of the Alaska Highway, but not many appreciate the history and motivation for its initial construction which somewhat surprisingly has its roots in World War II. A stop at the Alaska Highway House in Dawson Creek does a nice job of that introduction. If you enjoy history and digging a little deeper into the origins of significant... More

We spent a couple of hours leisurely viewing the exhibits and watching a portion of the PBS video on the motivation for and construction of the Alaska Highway. The exhibits are well done and this is time well spent, especially if you're starting a trip to Alaska via the Alaska Highway.
