The Fargo Marathon was an unexpected surprise. My expectations for North Dakota were embarrassing low and this race exceed expectations. The start/finish in the FargoDome was an interesting twist. Depending on your COVID comfort, the start could be uncomfortable for some. It was a mass start inside with no mask requirement. The race course is flat, beautiful, and well organized. From the back of the pack perspective, there were a few things to note. I finished in 6 hours. The course limit is 7. On the back half of the race, bands were breaking down as we went by or gone completely. The beer and Sandy's Donuts had run out by the time we finished. This was true of people that finished around the 4 hour mark as well. I was very excited to get both. Overall, I would highly recommend this race to anyone going for 50 states and needs North Dakota. The charm of the experience is Fargo itself. Great restaurants, breweries, and boutiques.

One of the best races!!! Running the states for Half marathons. Extremely well run and a super fun and flat course. Bands and music throughout the course. A scenic trip through Minnesota. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Start and finish in the Fargodome! Yummy food at the end.

Well-run marathon, but please lose the prominent Bible verse on the medal and the before-race hyper-Christian prayer. Please open it more to people of other faiths (or no faith), but putting these flourishes next to others (put the verse on a choice of lanyards, or something besides the medal). While Christianity is part of the fabric of the place, it's only one piece of a diverse puzzle.

My quest is to do a half in every state and DC so this was my ND race.

The registration is very easy and the communication from registration to race time was just right. Not too much and not too little. I love that they tell you what your bib number is (had not seen that before) and that they email you after the race with your results. Again a nice personal touch. I know I can time myself and look it up myself but still.

Wasn't expecting the runner tracking, which was a nice surprise. Didn't work when my friend tried it on her phone but my friends who tracked me on their desk/lap tops had no trouble.

Well organized race. Very smart to get runners into the starting line and into their places early. I did the Sarasota half and heard no cues to get in line. By the time I got to the starting line, the area for my pace was packed and I couldn't get in there, plus the start line was completely barricaded. I had to start with the walkers and weave my way after the race started. So making clear announcements and getting runners in line early is a good thing.

Enjoyed the course--bridge start, foray into MN, a nice distance on a pretty street with oak trees lining the sides, a short time through Concordia college. Flat as they advertised. My knees are grateful.

Crowd support was fantastic! Loved all the residents, especially the ones serving orange slices. Didn't use the "beer and bacon" station but funny that a resident set that up. Music set up all over the course. I don't run with headphones anyway so I'm used to it but music along the way is always helpful. Posters were entertaining, loved the cheer squads and people dressed up in costume to cheer us on.

Good amount of port-o-lets at the start and during the course--lines were short. Post-race food and entertainment also good.

My only suggestion for next year--the finish area needs more signage to direct runners to the various finish-line things. Had a hard time finding the post-race refreshments and they were all on one big table so there was a lot of congestion. I would suggestion putting the same refreshments on different tables so runners can be dispersed.

Thanks for the cheese pizza though. I always need some sort of greasy junky food after a race. Balanced with the bananas, it was perfect. :-)

Complimentary video of my finish--totally awesome!

I have so many races to do in other states so I doubt I will do this one again but I highly recommend it!!! Great race!

Loved the bands and entertainment. Plenty of free parking within walking distance of Start and Finish Lines. Will return next year.

The event was well organized except they start the marathon as the last race of the day. This causes the race to be warmer than it needs to be and slower times. They could start the race at 6:00 and avoid this issue. I will not run the marathon again unless they change the start time.

Great marathon. This was my 15th marathon (13th state) and by far one of the best events! Arrived in Friday morning to the Fargo airport and it was nice to see a big welcome to Fargo Marathon sign in the airport lobby with a table set up and "greeters" to help us with any questions. I must say that was a first! Expo was nice, not huge but nice size and well organized. My daughter and I ran the 5k and I was a little surprised that no water was offered on the course until the very end and then we had to hunt for it (and it was a HOT 5k!). The marathon, however, was superb and well staffed with water, blue (not the nasty yellow) powerade, GU, fruit, Popsicles (very nice!), kids with candy and juice boxes. The entire town came out for this event! It seemed it was one giant block party the entire race! Bands ranged from accordions to bagpipes to praise and worship to bluegrass pick-n-grin to oldies to square dancin people to the heavy medal you couldnt understand and even a little Jimmy Buffet and Elvis! You name it and they had it! Great race! Just please next time, get better singers for the anthems.

This race is so overcrowded that you actually have to run 15 miles to do a half marathon due to all of the people you have to try to run around. There should be corralled starts with time verification to get into each corral. Organizers want to make this bigger and bigger every year. But I won't be going back due to too many runners.

I've participated in the past five years of the Fargo Marathon. When I started I wasn't a runner, and still don't consider myself to be a runner, but the Fargo Marathon is a fun event for people of all abilities. This year I ran the 5K on Friday night and finally took on the Half on Saturday morning. This was my first half and I cannot wait to race my first full in Fargo!
