After visiting the drought ridden country of Panama (El Nino), this park is a welcomed change. Lots of green and high humidity make this place a emerald gem. The Peace Corp blazed some trails years back but unfortunately have fallen into disrepair. Little colored ribbons make the rough and muddy route through the woods possible. Not the easiest of trails... More

slept in penonome the night before- did as a day trip beautiful park, relatively well maintained trails. took a 1.5 hour loop hike without a guide. we didnt get lost. i would avoid in wet season as even in dry season i ruined the shoes in a mud puddle nice bromeliads and vegetation but didnt see much wildlife other than... The El Copé National Park, also known as the Parque Nacional Omar Torrijos is not an easy destination. We stayed in Penonomé and went to El Copé with our 4x4. And we needed it.
