Was taking my son for orientation at UNCW. Found a nice hotel on the beach, The Silver Gull. The hotel was what I needed, a clean place to stay on the beach. The beaches were nice, gentle breaks, but enough to surf on. Funky little...More

Rating beaches depends on what you compare them to. Compared to the Jersey shore, this beach is a gem, very clean, nice sand, and usually easy to find a non crowded spot. But compared to Sunset Beach or Oak Island, I'd prefer these others. Parking...More

This is a great beach for walking or swimming or surfing but it can get very crowded this time of year. They have lifeguards all along the beach. Restaurants and parking are convenient.

Having spent weeks here annually for 30+ years, it feels like a 2nd home. Gorgeous, wide beaches, hard working & well trained lifeguards have my deep respect. I've never seen anyone out of control drunk or causing trouble for others on the South end which...More
