A little while ago, I wrote an article titled, "Beach Bucket List."
Learn to surf with WB Surf Camp was one of my items and I just got to check it off my list this past Friday! I took my three children, ages 16, 15, and 12 and we went from Raleigh for a day trip to the beach to learn to surf. None of us had ever tried surfing before and we have varying levels of balance and athleticism between the four of us... so I wasn't totally sure how it would go.
I could not have asked for a better day or for a more fun way to bond with my teens. Adam and Laura were our instructors for the day and were so incredibly kind, encouraging, fun and... I guess most important of all.. they were really good at what they did. All four of us felt comfortable with them in the ocean. We all felt like we had a good knowledge base for what to expect and for how to approach surfing. And, all four of us (to, granted, varying levels of success) were able to get up on the surfboard. My middle son was outright surfing by the end of the day and started asking about more opportunities to learn and grow with the sport.
From the very beginning, to the reservations and directions to the entire day of (Adam and Laura kindly encouraged water and sunscreen so I didn't have to be the one to badger my kids, ha!)... it was all just easy and amazing. Highly, highly recommend lessons to anyone who has a free day and highly recommend WB surf camp programs to anyone who wants to try surfing.

this is my 3rd time to Cost Rica with WB surf camp and I could not be more delighted! This is one of the best vacation spots I've been to, thanks mainly to the staff. Jeff, Chase and Flash are amazing and are extremely encouraging or helpful. Their energy and passion for surfing is contagious. I have only surfed with WB and every year my skills improve. It is solely due to their teaching abilities.
I cannot wait till next year!

My child attends many camps as he is in year round school in the triangle area. We ask him periodically what is your favorite camp or what is in your top ten. After one day at WB Surf, he said this camp is my favorite #1 camp and that feeling for him did not change all week - even when they wore him out (thank you for that on behalf of the parents). The staff was great and flexible given the timing and what is happening in the world right now. We will be back as he already asked if he could come back soon!

WB Surf Camp is great, my daughter and her friend (17 yrs old) this was their first time surfing. My daughter was a little nervous that morning but after being with the instructor he made them feel great and she was fine by the time she got out on the water. Adam was the perfect instructor and we were really impressed at how he worked with them and made them feel comfortable and they were up and on the boards in no time! We go to Surf City every year and I would recommend this company to anyone who is in that area if they wanted to learn how to surf. I couldnt say enough great things about this company and everything from the booking, to setup to the day of, no issues and it all went smoothly! Thank you Adam again for being a great instructor and making their time an awesome experience they will remember forever!

Our boys, ages 8 and 6, had an amazing week at this camp. We live here locally and wanted to try out a camp in our own backyard that was something different. Every day upon pickup my boys had a huge smile on their face and spoke about what they did the entire ride home. When I asked them if they wanted to do it again, they both yelled "Yeah!" The girls on the staff were incredibly nice and the communication was excellent. We will see you next year!

The WB Surf experience with surf instructor Chase was excellent in every way you want beginner lessons to be. Let's start with the flexible scheduling. Chase looked over the forecast for the whole week to pick lesson times with the best chance of good beginner waves. When the waves turned out poor one morning, we rescheduled for the afternoon. When I was too beat after the first lesson (I"m an older beginner), he rearranged the entire schedule for the remaining three lessons to build in further recovery times and maximize the learning that could happen.
Safety was always top priority, and every outing reinforced how to stay safe getting out or riding in or falling. Chase knows the ocean, the waves, the currents, the wind, and how it all comes together for the right or wrong wave to send you on next. As a public school teacher, I appreciated how he adjusted instruction to fit the way I learn best. So much excitement, fun, and success getting some stand up rides.
In the conversations between waves, I learned things about the ocean, the sea floor, algae, animals on the island, some gardening, and the coastal lifestyle he grew up with. Needless to say, I'm stoked to surf more, and I'm hooked on WB Surf.

We were two families with kids between 8-13 getting surf lessons. We had such a great time! The kids and adults loved their teachers, we learned to surf and always felt safe. This was a very professional team and super fun experience for the whole family that we will always remember. Thank you Lauren, Courtney, Colby and Jack!! We would definitely want to come back!

This is my daughter's 2nd year at surf camp. She had an absolute blast and plans to attend again next year with her younger sister. The staff are wonderful, knowledgeable and kind. This truly is a wonderful experience for kids to learn to surf, to learn about ocean safety and become genuinely comfortable swimming in the ocean. The ratio is 2:1 for the camp she attended. My daughter spent most of her time with Anna, who was wonderful, gave her confidence and great instruction. Gavin was also one of her counselors and he was equally as awesome. My biggest take away, as a parent, was the counselors love kids, love the ocean and genuinely want to share their love of surfing with the campers. Watching from the shore, I saw smiles, laughter, cheering for each child and true enjoyment. My daughter will probably never be in a surf competition, but she is so comfortable swimming in the ocean. Don't hesitate to enroll your child, these are skills your child will take with them into their futures.

The WB Surf Camp experience in Cost Rica was phenomenal and far exceeded expectations. The Camp team is very well organized and passionate in providing a flawless week long surfing experience. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned surfer they will put on the right break at the right time with top notch instructors that elevate you to levels you dreamed of.

We sent our 13 year old daughter Nina to this camp as her first ever experience far away from home on her own. She was looking to do a service camp, and combine it with an activity that she loves - surfing. The WB Surf Camp was a home run. She got to work on saving turtles, while also enjoying a week of fun on the beach, making friends and catching waves. But the most important thing I want to share in this review is the amazing care that the camp took with my daughter after the camp had ended, and things didn't go according to plan with her travel arrangements. She was booked to fly home through an airline unaccompanied minor program, and her flight got cancelled. And the next one, and a few more after that. The way the camp staff took care of her, and the situation, and dealing with us - the worried parents, was truly exemplary. So, to any parent, who is thinking about sending their child on their first ever far away adventure - I highly recommend WB Surf Camp. Your child will be in great hands.
