Hi, My husband, 8 year old daughter and I are going to Wrightsville Beach this weekend from NYC. We will do the WB Surf Camp. It's our first time in this area and am looking for suggestions of what to do in the area when we are not surfing. Is their a historic area nearby? A Main street with nice shops? Bike rentals? We will be staying at the Harbor Inn. And lastly, I see the forecast is showing thunderstorms all week. I'm hoping that is just tropical storms that come and go quickly like...More

Yes....there is a small downtown area with restaurants, bar, ice cream, and small grocery. It is right across the bridge from the Harbor Inn. You realize you are staying on the sound, which is a nice location, but a little ways from the beach. But you are very close to the quaint downtown. Weather will be hot and humid, but with a usual ocean breeze. Afternoon thunderstorms are common.
