We booked our cruise as a consolation prize for our cancelled trip to Italy. My expectations were minimal - but Patti and Captain Axel made our 10th Anniversary memorable. The stories, scenery and breathtaking sunset made the experience perfect! Added bonuses included the photos shared afterwards and the surprise cupcakes. Book a cruise - you won't regret it!

I booked a tour for my fiance's birthday and it was the most perfect evening! Not only was the sunset absolutely perfect, but Captain Axel and First Mate Patti were so hospitable and fun! We can't wait to come back to Wrightsville and book another trip!

We are fairly local and booked this to show our friends the area and it’s just lovely. The views, the boat, the drinks & treats but most of all the captain and first mate- you will relax, see a gorgeous sunset and get yo know the area, from the water. Would HIGHLY recommend!

Short version: We absolutely loved our first trip on the La Dee Dah. It was beautiful and fun, Captain Axel and his first mate Patti were a delight, and we plan to make La Dee Dah cruises a tradition now. Very long detailed version: My husband and I arrived to the dock where Patti greeted us. She took us to the boat where she and Capt. Axel welcomed us aboard with smiles and hand sanitizer. They’re legitimately certified for safety during a pandemic! We were given a bit of history on the vessel itself and then were informed about how the cruise would go, including details about where to find the life jackets, that beverages were complimentary, and that we’d get a few stories about local folklore and history throughout the evening! We set sail promptly (my husband had booked a private cruise for my birthday, but I understand there are also cruises to be paired with others), so it was just the four of us on the boat. The boat itself was charming, originating in Maine for lobster purposes! Patti placed a "Happy Birthday" flag on the back of the boat to fly for us as we enjoyed our cruise. Capt. Axel was so very mindful throughout the entire cruise - at no point did he take us to an area where he felt we were any in danger...he stayed in deep water instead of skirting into any shallow areas, and when we saw a dolphin, he was very cautious! He slowed down and we helped keep an eye out for the dolphin to make sure we were staying out of his way so he wouldn't get hurt. (But what a magical encounter!) Throughout the evening, Patti was incredibly attentive to our beverage needs (I had sangria and my husband had craft beer - we also supplied our own bottle of champagne to enjoy during sunset), and she captured so many wonderful pictures of us. I generally didn't notice our backgrounds, but upon reviewing the pictures the next day, realized how clever she was with the backdrops! Beautiful sailboats, the WB drawbridge, huge puffy clouds - she just cared so much for all of the little details! She also brought out some great snacks to enjoy throughout the evening! Because of the nature of the boat, any big wake created by other boats could make the boat rock a little. We never felt any wild rocking and definitely were never concerned at all, but Capt. Axel turned into them like the professional he is to minimize the rocking, and Patti called out for us to hold our drinks to make sure spillage was at a minimum (VERY thoughtful-I don't like to waste alcohol). Seriously, all the little details were cared for. I'm also the kind of person who won't listen to long stories - I get distracted and stop paying attention. Capt. Axel's stories were short and sweet (and super interesting) so I actually left with a few cool tales. Toward the end, we saw some lightning in the distance (which I love - I wasn't worried anyway) and both of them confirmed for us that they were closely monitoring the lightning and we were at no risk. Obviously, we were huge fans of this sunset cruise and would do it again in a heartbeat. We plan to make this a regular tradition, at least once a year, but hopefully more. I'd also love to invite more of our friends/family to join us for future cruises - La Dee Dah deserves the exposure and our friends would love every little element of the experience. Capt. Axel and Patti were both so cool and fun; we'll consider them friends forever!
