My husband & I bought tickets to attend our first Carolina Thunderbirds Hockey game last week held in the W/S Fairgrounds Annex bldg.
As they say, you really have to be there to get caught up in all the excitement, hear the electric music that plays all during the game!
It was a pretty full house as the Thunderbirds played the Mentor Ice Breakers on Old People Rule Night!
The various entertainment that goes on in between the quarters is truly enjoyable if you don't know what's coming. The Throw the Puck game was out of this world!
Watching the guy work that zamboni to the tune of "Ice, Ice Baby" was a sheer delight!
All in all, other than being cold as a wiz inside the building, we had a great time!
Glad that the Thunderbirds won - 3 to 1.

Enjoyed country summer concert series in the fairgrounds annex. Great location for a concert. No bad seat in the facility. Just the perfect size to make you feel closer to the artist.

This is a great example of a local fair. Lots of things to do and see! Sweet tea with cheap refills for life with the cup; pig races; butterfly interaction; giant turkey legs; old-timey music and craft demonstrations; rides and games and so much more!

I stayed in the RV campground. I was the only occupant for a couple of days. It was full hook-up but some of the sewer inlets were flooded with water and some of my black water go spread onto the ground. It had be raining hard but that is no excuse. No other amenities in the campgroung. However, Wake Forest's athletic facility is very close and I had a great time watching a Carolina League pro hockey game.

Although you were supposed to pay for the site no-=one was present to take my money an any of the 7 days I was there.

We look forward to coming to the Dixie Classic Fair every year in the Fall. Discount tickets are offered and help a family save a lot of money on rides. The layout of the fair is usually the same every year, so it is easy to find favorite rides and food vendors. I have so many memories of the fair as a child and I have enjoyed taking my kids to make their own fair memories. There is something for everyone-art exhibits, shows, games, food, rides and contests. It is a tradition that I enjoy doing every year!

My family went to the fair on her birthday October 5 and it was good but unfortunately too much walking around.

If you have a chance go check out Hypnotist- Brad Machett Show because why we wait for it to start Sweet Caroline came on and everyone started to sing it. You don’t want to miss it. Don’t see the lumberjack because that was boring and not worth the time due to terrible seat. Skip the grandstand because it not really worth for loud sounds.

I know Dixie classic fair is going to change but I think a perfect pick will be Carolinas classic fair. Both North and South Carolina is pretty good states to come to visit the beach to the mountain.

My sons and I came here for two arcade auctions that they had here and also found our way over to the open market and the pig racing stadium. Definitely a cool space for interesting events.

Staff was very friendly. Nice area for parking. Seating was good, area to stand closer to stage. Chose seating since my son was with me. Facilities was clean and there was plenty of security.

We checked out the Earth Day festival here yesterday and had a great time.

Lots of ample parking. Plenty of capable volunteers to manage foot traffic and see that the grounds stayed clean. Several picnic tables, a couple in the shade. Restrooms were clean and easy to access. They do have a generic ATM if you forgot cash- we didn't use it but there's probably a withdrawal fee. Good venue!

I have attended the Dixie Classics Fair every year for the past 50 or more years. I have also visited the Farmer's Market here, Poultry Exhibits, Gun Shows, Concerts, Monster Truck Derby, and many other functions. I just visited an exhibit in the Annex Building at the Fairgrounds. I can understand someone saying this place is run down, but it really is not. This place is perfect for all the activities it is used for, and over the years I have seen many improvements. The dirt and gravel parking areas serve their purpose too. I cannot see that additional pavement or fancier walkways would improve the experience.

Frank d, we appreciate the review. We strive to have year round entertainment every week in Winston-Salem. While the Fair may be what we are known for, we hosts concerts, festivals trade shows, and many other events like you mentioned. Thank you for supporting our events year round and making Winston-Salem a better place to be!
