It was a bit confusing to find other parts of the mall since you have to walk through other stores to get to the other side. They are no mall maps around, at least when we were looking. Good deals! Great way to waste a...More

While visiting we needed to waste time before dinner. We looked around and did a little shopping. Plenty of store to choose from and the mall was clean and seemed safe. Wish we had a mall like this in our little town!

After the museum, my husband and I went shopping to buy my deaf friend's wedding present. We were on a vacation. We found a wedding present at Sears. Finally. We kept searching it for few hours. Hanes Mall looks nice but some shops are empty.

Shopping and more (4 Replies)
My daughters and I are possibly going to be dress shopping in WS in late March. We could make it a day trip, but I would prefer to spend at least one night, maybe the weekend. Of course, her preference is to shop Hanes Mall. So, I'm looking for suggestion for a decent place to stay near the Mall, doesn't have to be fancy, just clean and easy to get to. Also, I would like to find other places to shop that aren't chains. Same for restaurants. I don't do chains when we travel. My girls will be...More

There are plenty of hotel options near Hanes Mall--Days Inn, Hampton, Quality Inn, and a number of others. Go to google maps, enter "Hanes Mall Shopping Center", then click on "search nearby" and enter "hotels". You'll find lots of them. You'll also find plenty of good restaurant choices in the area. On Stratford Rd., which runs next to the mall, consider Milner's, Athena Greek Tavern, Five Points, Hero House, or Cities. On or near Hanes Mall Blvd, there's the Village Tavern, Jimmy's...More

good place for salads in Winston Salem? (8 Replies)
Any recommendations for good salads in Winston Salem? There used to be a Soup or Salad near Hanes Mall but that has disappeared. Wonder if there were other places similar to that that you might know of? Thanks! Mark

Village Tavern (there are two locations, either one is good). They make several great salads. You might have to wait for a table, though. Frank's Deli, in Rural Hall: From the outside you'd never think that this place is one of the two best places in the area to get a salad (it's basically a pizza/sub joint). But their salad is always fresh fresh fresh and served with generous helpings. Get the Grilled Chicken, or Grilled Shrimp salad. Jason's Deli - off Hanes Mall Blvd. This is a...More

My husband I an just visited Winston Salem for two nights last week. We stayed at the Brookstown Inn which is located just south of downtown. Unfortunately, I don't know the exact proximity to the Coliseum or the mall, but I don't believe the mall is more than a 5-10 minute drive away. Check out all of the reviews on the Brookstown Inn in trip advisor. They are almost all 4 or 5 stars. We enjoyed the continential breakfast which included fruit, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, breads and patries,...More
