Took my mother in law to see the rose garden. Very lovely place smelled very fragrant of rose blooms. We enjoyed the visit, the ground was a little soggy due to all the rain from the tropical storm from last week. We ran into a problem as when we went to leave the truck wouldn't start. The staff allowed us to sit indoors in the lobby with ac waiting for the tow truck to come. It was very nice of them due to covid currently. My mother in law is 83 years old and I don't think she would have been able to withstand the heat for much longer. Huge Thank You to the staff at City of Wilson Operations. Some very wonderful and nice people.

as others have correctly stated you need to visit the garden when the roses are blooming, may is probably the best time in spring. the number of different flower colors, the fragrances, and the peacefulness of the area are quite enchanting, at the right time of year. the garden is located within the city of wilson operations site on the east side of town.

My husband and I really enjoyed stopping to smell the roses. With a huge variety of all colors, names and varieties we really enjoyed this. We plan to return home to plant some of our own. It’s free to see and walk through which makes it even better. I really love it when communities take the time to offer things like this.

The garden is supposed to be run by volunteers who remove the spent roses. It didn't look like that had been done in a while. They have over 100 varieties of roses from historic old garden roses to new hybrids. It's on a noisy road and that takes away from the experience.

The Rose Garden is a special place to me as my father Willie Mcclain of Wilson did the brick work there! I remember when it was being built and not being able to see the vision until it was completed. He passed away in March of 2021, so this makes me so happy to see how many people are still enjoying it today! I actually took my maternity photos there!

Small-ish display but very nice. We caught it at a time of incredible heat and the roses still were impressive. A nice place to view and contemplate and almost forget about the traffic and hubbub.

An unexpected find, we toured the garden on a Sunday morn when the dew was still on the roses. Some were past bloom, some opening, and some in full glory. Any amazing variety of plants. Some shade available but go before it gets too hot. A very pleasant hour.

Extraordinary when in bloom, but not when they first put out the fertilizer! (Very smelly). Otherwise, a beautiful garden to visit and spend some quiet time. Literally thousands of rose blooms.

We visited Wilson in February, and stopped by again. This time one of our stops was the Rose Garden. We thought the roses would be blooming all summer, but they had peaked in May, at least for a while. There were a few bushes blooming, but they were in the final stages.
There are a number of bushes and many kinds. The Garden is well designed and has several statues. The unfortunate thing is that it is betweeen a very busy highway a city operations building so it is not the peaceful place you often find a rose garden.

Great place to take your grandmother or children *when the roses are in bloom*. Otherwise you won't find much. Springtime is great!
