Wow. Let me start by saying this is a beautiful park. Coming from a tourist town in Myrtle Beach which is run down, old, and just severely neglected. I wasn't too sure about going to a "no name" town that isn't talked about like Savannah or NYC or Asheville. And I've been to all. Our family loves to travel and we try to,l go to places we've never been. Again, being from a tourist town, we want to enjoy outdoors, but avoid crowds! With that being said, we TripAdvisor Wilson and Rocky Mount and since I am a bridge photographer, I look for any unique bridges to photograph for my Instagram page @chasingbridgesusa This park is stunning. Clean. And just plain amazing. The bridge, I learned through research is 1,000 feet long and completed in 2018 I believe it said. It was clean, wide enough for foot traffic to pass by without stopping or moving over. It was durable and just picturesque! My husband and daughter said the facilities / bathrooms were super clean, and pretty. A pretty bathroom... wow that's a first. My husband said they were maintained and kept up. They have disc golf which myrtle beach does too so its not something we did in Wilson. We had out dog with us, which it was very pet friendly. There were geese all over the place. I don't know who keeps up with the park but there was no geese or dog droppings anywhere. There was a kayak launch and piers for fishing. We were excited to talk about another trip there just to fish and kayak! What an awesome place. Bravo!

This is a great place to walk and get some fresh air while being around water. The walkway has roots, some mud here and there so it feels as if you are walking remotely. Do not wear your fancy shoes out to walk, they may get dirty. There is often wildlife around the lake, including an occasional eagle sighting.

The City of Wilson has recently upgraded Lake Wilson and there's a 2 mile walking path around the entire lake. It's sunny in some places, partially shaded by pines in others and fully shaded by the walkway in front of residential areas. It's a fantastic place to go for a walk or a run, to fish or to kayak (there's even a special kayak launcher to make that easier) and there's even frisbee golf there (don't know much about it but it looks fun). While there's also a small playground the "crown jewels" of the park are the brand new serpentine bridge that crosses the lake along with the beautiful walking path. Don't miss out on this little-known but really nice oasis of a park right here in Wide Awake Wiltson.

I am new to the area and was interested in finding local water spots. I traveled to the entrance of Lake Wilson and found it to be rather plain. The kids play area is too small and directly in the sun. However, I went again to the back side of the park and found a hidden walking path to the new bridge across the lake. The views are wonderful and the path is wide enough to stop and gaze while walkers continue their journey. I did not see any "No Fishing" signs but I also did not see any fish cleaning stations so I assume there is no fishing allowed there. We will return to walk. Whoever won the bid to build the bridge did an wonderful job.

Lake Wilson is small, but a nice place for a walk, fishing, small powerboats or kayaks/canoes. There is also a disk golf course laid out around one side of the lake.

A small lake that you can drive halfway around. Benches if you want to just sit outside and enjoy the weather!!!

I love Lake Wilson! Taking a walk around the lake, greeting people on the walking trail, seeing ducks on the water, and just the beauty of creation makes it a peaceful and therapeutic experience.

I'm so happy they finally finished the path around the lake! We visit here when we're in town visiting family. Wilson doesn't have many outside places to go for exercise that we're aware of so this is a great find- it's beautiful! I think it's 2 miles around. Kids loved the long bridge and frisbee golf. Definitely worth visiting!

Believe it or not...Lake Wilson is where I learned to ice skate...You can run a boat or fish the lake. But mostly its older guys sitting in cars flashing lights...looking a casual encounter. Its is still nice to walk over the dam bridge.
