We visited this beautiful place bc during a light rain, knowing few people would visit it. It is also outdoors so during this virus chaos we are trying to be in small crowds and outdoors. The garden features, the vegetable area and the stunning flowers are well worth a visit. Kudos to the staff that keep this place running and the generous donors who support them. There are parking places and picnic benches. During a normal time there is even a place for kids to play. I did see a little one there enjoying the nature even if he could not venture into the cutest little purple house. Everyone should visit. Be it a place for silent mediation or just a stroll thru the grounds, it is well worth your time.

Wow! What a lovely free adventure, right off a busy roadway.
Gorgeous grounds with several different "areas" of landscaping and plantings.
Lots of seating and table options throughout, but no waste cans other than one area near greenhouse (kind of odd in dog-friendly environment...no place to put used waste bags).
Nice gift shop featuring a few local goodies and county extension office onsite.

If you are wondering what plants will work well in this sandy coastal soil, look no further than the Arboretum. You'll see what works and a few surprises as well, such as the koi pond. They have a great art show for local talent in the Fall. It is also a fun place to take kids, with several surprises in the form of fairy houses around the campus.

We stopped here killing time before we had to go to the airport. It was a cute little place. Our timing was not great for seeing everything in bloom but could tell it probably is beautiful at the right time for the flowers. The lady in the gift shop was sweet. Bought some adorable little charms to give my friends and daughter.

Wonderful place for a peaceful stroll. The herb garden is cool with many interesting varieties. The Japanese garden is beautiful and tranquil, and the rose garden has many gorgeous blooms this time of year. Plenty of fish to feed in the koi pond. Many seats and benches in both sunny and shady areas to relax and enjoy. It’s a popular spot for family photos.

The Arboretum encompasses seven acres of gardens and plantings dedicated to demonstrating the best plant species for southeastern North Carolina landscapes. We were there when they were holding a plant sale so it was very busy, but we still enjoyed the gardens. We especilaty liked

We were so surprised to find this free attraction on an afternoon when we needed to burn some time with the kids. The gardens were beautiful. The walk very relaxing. My 4 yo loved the story book trail and the japanese garden with koi pond. My father enjoyed the carnivorous plants and the sod grass. I loved the Rose garden and the edible herb garden.

We considered this more a botanical garden than an arboretum. The gardens, sculptures an entire area was well thought out and absolutely gorgeous. Parking lot with free parking. The Japanese Garden was perfect. Highly recommend.

Stopped by to tour the Arboretum. Very well kept gardens that has many year round displays and gardens. There was many flowering trees, shrubs, and plants, wonderful for mid January. This is a hidden gem like others shared. Keep up the great work!

A real surprise---absolutely gorgeous garden with an outstanding water pond and unique display gardens to include a Japanese Garden, Butterfly Garden, Vegetable Garden Children's Garden, Bog Garden and a surprising array of trees, shrubs, flowers. Seven Acres of beauty and education. You will be surprised at all the plant material that can grow and thrive in this coastal Carolina area.
Not an impressive entrance, since it's main building was formerly an elementary school, which makes for an even nicer surprise when you enter the gardens.
Don't miss it!
