I love this walk! There is only a temporary downside: construction diverts the River Walk trail near the Embassy Suites but then gets you back on it around Walnut St. It runs from the Isabel Holmes Bridge to the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge with restaurants...More
Great history lesson of our past. Great little shops and very safe environment for our walk as well.Discovered a great brewery just a block up called The Front Street Brewery and this place has one of the biggest Whiskey and Bourbon collections in the United...More
If you need something free to do, take a walk along the River. There's a lot to see. Be sure to read the historical markers (esp Orange Street) as they provide an interesting context of what happened in North Carolina that most people like to...More
After checking into our hotel we had some time before dinner and decided to go downtown. The river walk was very enjoyable, with nice views of the water. Very peaceful way to some some time and get some exercise.
After dinner, we watched the sun set at Market Street and the River. We got some fantastic photos of the sun setting behind the Battleship across the river.
After the sun set, we walked south a few blocks but had to turn back because the...More

The Pilot House and The George are both good choices depending on what type of food you are looking for too. Elijah's is another great choice for dinner on the river. If you are looking for dinner on the ocean at Wrightsville we are always happy with Oceanic. We also love South Beach Grill at Wrightsville Beach. If you sit on the patio you may be able to catch the sunset there too. There are many great restaurants on the river walk though. For a night cap on the river walk hit the Front Street Brewery. A lot of the restaurants on Front Street do not Front the river. So you may be able to enjoy the sunset on the river walk and then dine at one of the many restaurants on Front Street. Good luck! Wilmington is one of our favorite small beach towns!!
