I am told that Wilmington NC has the largest historic district of any city in the country. I have not verified that, but it sounds plausible. Many of the homes in the historic district have plaques that indicate how old the house is and give a brief account of who the house was built for. In December, the Wilmington Historical Society usually organizes tours of dozen or more homes. That is always fun!

The homes, the shops, the charm are all amazing! Walk along the residential streets to view the historic homes, then pop into one of many shops for souvenirs or unique finds. Then try to choose one place to dine, it's hard to choose there is so much good food!
