Since 2015, Cape Fear Adventure Company has helped visitors to and locals of the Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, and Pleasure Island area make memories with our kayak and island exploration excursions, fully customizable island hopping boat charters, island camping, and outdoor summer camps. We really enjoyed our 4 hour kayak trip with Austin. He was a great kayak guide and helped us navigate the waterways with no issues. Crabbing was fun and the secluded beach of Masonboro Island was incredible.

My best friend and I took a girls trip to Wilmington, NC and decided on our second to last day that it would be cool to live out our 90s teen dreams of kayaking in “Dawson’s Creek” (aka Hewletts Creek) and set out to find last minute kayak rentals for us to take out ourselves. After all the rental companies we contacted weren’t very informative and didn’t know a lot about Hewletts, we called CFAC to get info about tides, distance, launch spots, and to see if it was even feasible for us to make this trek alone. Austin possessed a wealth of knowledge in the location we wanted to go and the hurdles it would take for us to get there alone being the naive inexperienced kayakers we are! Thank god we called him and realized renting kayaks wouldve been a mistake! Not only did he answer our million questions, but he also graciously fit us into his packed schedule to personally take us out to Hewlett’s on a custom guided tour the next day. Best decision we made all weekend and a great experience! Austin hooked us up with a prime launch spot that shaved off a lot of the labor-intensive and time-consuming portion of the journey had we tried to paddle up the ICW from a further launch location like my friend and I originally planned. Austin seamlessly created a much more leisurely and enjoyable experience with ease, and happily let us fan-girl way too long at the iconic Dawson’s Creek house/dock without shame! He even played the theme song for us. This fact alone is worth 5 stars lol. We hope to return to Wilmington sometime with friends and family and use CPAC services again! Highly recommend Austin and his crew for any excursions in the area! You won’t meet a nicer guy or more down to earth dude than him. Will not disappoint! Totally worth it!

We just had a phenomenal day on a 4-hour kayak and beach tour. Even though I’ve lived in this area for 10 years, the folks at Cape Fear Adventure Company were so insightful. They gave us information we didn’t have on the area, in addition to teaching us basics of kayak safely. We had a wonderful day and I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone looking for adventure or a day outing! One of my favorite things is our guide kept saying, “it’s your day” and adjusting to how much time we wanted to spend on each activity. Our group included individuals from 12 years old up to 77 years old and it was enjoyed by all!!

What an awesome 4-hour kayak excursion! Austin was an excellent, very knowledgeable guide and an overall fun and entertaining dude. We kayaked up Whiskey Creek, over to “Dog Island,” around the marsh areas, and to Masonboro Island to enjoy some time at a gorgeous secluded beach. Throughout the adventure, Austin educated us on the various birds, fish, crabs, and oyster habitats that surrounded us. He gave us some tips for going out on our own in the future, but realistically, the convenience of just meeting up with him at the dock with kayaks and life jackets ready for us really can’t be beat. We just wish we were kids so we could do the week-long summer camp!! We look forward to doing other adventures that Cape Fear Adventure Company offers, too. Thanks Austin and team!

After speaking to several touring companies with some level of frustration, I found Austin- and I immediately knew that he was the one to take me on the private trip I was looking for. He was responsive, informative and patient. And I was not disappointed. He and Courtney organized an amazing unforgettable trip that was just what I was looking for. Thank you!

My wife and I had a great time. Austin made the kayaking fun and gave us great information about the wildlife and history of the marshes. We liked having the option of it being just the 2 of us. It was cool to see all the pelicans diving for food. It was nice after some attempts Austin caught then released some blue crab right before our trip was over. Austin was even spot on in suggesting a local beer.

We had the most amazing time camping on the beach...and the best part was how easy it was for us! All we had to do was show up with our clothes. We had 4 adults and 3 kids and Austin provided us with 3 large tents, air mattresses, sheets, blankets, pillows, table, canopy tent, chairs, firewood, lantern, food...and all the little things needed to make our camping trip a success! He sets everything up and breaks everything down. Highly recommend this company. An awesome experience and the only way to camp!!

Decided to give kayaking a try while my husband and I were in Wilmington, NC celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. I’m not much for water activities, nor had I ever set foot in kayak, but kayaking ended up being so therapeutic and FUN!
We did the three hour sunset dinner option. We kayaked to a secluded island where Austin cooked us dinner while we enjoyed exploring the island and gathering the largest most beautiful seashells I’ve ever seen. The dinner was amazing (not sure how Austin packed all the stuff needed in his kayak- in addition to being a teacher, I’m convinced he’s also a magician). What an experience we’ll never forget lead by someone who knows what he’s doing, goes out of his way to make his guests are happy, and truly has a passion for what he does.
I’m so thankful to have found Cape Fear Adventure Company on the internet so we could enjoy this great outdoor experience!!

My 2 children (9&12) had the experience of a lifetime at their summer adventure camp. With a completely outdoor theme, they were able to go crabbing, kayaking, hiking, swimming, fishing, exploring etc. They even visited a sea turtle rescue facility and spent time on a zipline/ropes course. The counselors were amazing and very creative. They turned rainy days into awesome outdoor adventures. No gadgets or electronics, just some serious fun out in mother nature. I would recommend this place to anyone, kids and adults alike!!

Austin was a great tour guide so knowledgeable and he adjusted the tour to our interests. Dolphins, ospreys, Masonboro Island and marsh were beautiful. Don’t be intimidated by the 4 hours. The pace was fine. We have been on many kayak tours over the years and this was positively the best one. Highly recommend! Will be back!
