About
All Saints’ Tudeley is the only church in the world* to have all its twelve windows decorated by the great Russian artist Marc Chagall. The east window at Tudeley is a memorial tribute to Sarah d'Avigdor-Goldsmid who died aged just 21 in a sailing accident off Rye. Sarah was the daughter of Sir Henry and Lady d'Avigdor-Goldsmid; the family then lived at the fine Jacobean house Somerhill which is situated nearby.

Windows + Nature

Very nice excuse to leave London for a day. Beautiful windows, great scenery around. We enjoyed walking along surrounding footpaths all the way back to Tonbridge. We enjoyed it greatly!

Amazing find
Nov 2019
Tucked away down a country lane is an amazing little church with all its windows executed by Marc Chagall, an impressionist painter originating from Russia. Wonderful story attached to the windows, but go and see for yourself and find out. Well worth the effort,0

Beautiful windows
Oct 2019 • Friends
The church doesn’t look particularly attractive from the outside, but the interior is a different story. The Chagal windows are the crowning glory. What beautiful colours, especially the blues and yellows. A leaflet gives a detailed description of all of the windows and it’s great to identify small details you might not have spotted otherwise. Highly recommend.

Superb stained glass windows

The modern Marc Chagall stained glass windows are absolutely superb, using vibrant, brightly coloured pieces to tell the stories..

Lovely afternoon in ther country
May 2019
Pleasant train ride from London, a pleasant visit in the church with beautiful Chigal windows, a lovely walk through the back countryside to the pub for lunch and a cab back to the station. It was a memorable day's break from the hustle of the city. The pub (500M from church) has hiking routes posted.

Chagall's window designs stunning

A little jewel in the countryside. Definitely worth contacting the church office and arranging for a guide to fully appreciate the church and the history of Chagall's windows.

the most remarkable collection if you want to see glass windows by MARC CHAGALL

This treasure is little known, even among locals
A long story is connected with it: the family saga of the d'Avigdor and Goldsmid family (available on amazon).
Marc Chagall was commissioned initially only with one window, but when the well over 80 year old artist visited the church to see its effect, he was so thrilled that he produced and delivered the remaining 11 windows. What gem!

Marc Chagall in England!

The wonderful windows made by Chagall late in his life are a major art experience. I took a train to Orpington then a cab for 20 pounds. Ask your driver to come back as it's in the middle of nowhere.

Beautiful views

A place to be quiet, inside or out. Go when the sun shines, as this makes the most of the stained glass windows.
