A lovely lake, set in the midst of the mountains of central Wilkes County. There is fishing, boating, swimming, camping, some of the best mountain biking in the nation, and lots of opportunities for hiking. Great picnic shelters and playgrounds are located along the lake....More

This multifaceted outdoor area is great in all seasons but spring and fall are especially nice with lovely flora everywhere. It's fun to wade in the lake on a hot summer day.

Mountain lake surrounded by trees, few homes on the water, views of nearby Blue Ridge. Nice Campgrounds, and a small marina with decent sandwiches, fishing tackle and minor boat repair. Great mountain bike location, many trails to walk.

If you want to be outside this is a great place to be. Water, playground, hiking trails, biking trails, ranging from several difficulties. Love to come here and hike. Daughter loves the playground. Wife loves the water. Win win win

I will start by saying that we only got a little over a mile into the trail before my daughter wrecked her bike and we had to leave. From what time we were there, the scenery was beautiful and everyone we met on the trail...More

Park by the dam is nice. they have tables along 268 that are right along the lakeside....but for a nice spot I'd go to the marina and eat on the water.
