What a fantastic NC gem for camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, fishing and boating! Very nice campsites and a beautiful lake that is not extremely busy. Makes for a nice, inexpensive place to bring your family. Will definitely return soon.

Camping in the Jefferson area and went down to Wilksboro to the Reservoir. Lots to do! We hiked a trail, rode our bikes on a trail, had our picnic lunch and then spent several hours on the lake. Beautiful, clean, well kept area! Plenty to...More

While no campsites are ON the water, many have nice views. Most are shaded, and spread far enough apart that you are not on top of your neighbors. Some campsites are terraced, so one may be six to ten feet above the next. We were...More

We enjoyed our stay at Bandit's Roost which is a quiet family campground. We would certainly stay here again. Bathhouse could use an update. Hot shower 2 out of 3 mornings. Close to town. Lots of trails for biking and hiking.

I spent my trip Spring Break at Kerr Scott and while the nights were quite chilly for tent camping, 40-50 F or 4-10 C, I had a great time. I stayed at Bandit's Roost and the camp ground was very family friendly. Activities you can...More

Had a great time with wife and granddaughter at playground. Beautiful lake and great trails. Great place to walk, hike, bike or fish. Or just hangout with family.

Kerr Scott Reservoir is a gem of outdoor opportunities. The scenery alone is worth a visit but you can also enjoy water sports, picnic/playgrounds, hiking, biking or just sit on one of the many lakeside benches and enjoy the setting.

Yes, the lake is open year round. The campgrounds do close up for the winter months.

Park by the dam is nice. they have tables along 268 that are right along the lakeside....but for a nice spot I'd go to the marina and eat on the water.
