My family was visiting Outer Banks, and my son and I decided to book a last minute fishing trip. We went with Fishin Fanatic for a 6 hr trip on their smaller 38 ft boat. We had a blast! Captain Matt was the best and we ended up catching 92 fish. It was an experience we will never forget. I highly recommend booking through Fishin Fanatic if you're looking for a great Outer Banks fishing experience.

Fantastic trip. Captain Mark put us on the fish and Tom the mate, worked his tail of making sure we got them in the boat. These guys are pros and I highly recommend booking your next trip with the Fishin Fannatic.

Captain Mark and first mate Dunkin are an outstanding fishing team. Todays trip was a great day! Very rough but both the captain and mate made sure everyone was safe, Dillon took care of the guys that weren’t feeling well! Had a mix of yellow fin, black fin Mahi and a blue Marlin! Brenda was awesome dealing with booking the trip. We had people together who never met and we all took home fish.

We booked a deep sea fishing trip. The day before (Aug 7) I get this text.
Good afternoon, this is Capt Mark from Fishin Fannatic. I have an engine that’s not performing right. I cannot take you on the tilefish trip that you booked w us. We are able to fish in a nearshore capacity only because of lack of speed, if you are okay with modifying your trip to a nearshore we will be happy to take you.If not we can try to find another boat for you or give you a refund.
We find another trip so we chose a refund. On the August 17 I ask where the refund was.
The refund has been processed from our end. Depending on your cv bank, it can take anywhere from 3-15 business days.
After several other corespondents it was finally settled on the 8th of this month (November) after I disputed the charges on my credit card.

We did an all day charter with these guys and didn't catch a single fish on any pole the entire day. The only fish caught were small skip tuna on a trot line type system attached to a wench on the boat. You can think of it as the houses rod. You press a button and it reels in the fish in probably the most unexciting way to catch fish, ever. At the start of our morning, which we left the dock at 5am, Brandon (especially) and the captain seemed kinda in a mood and I was hoping it wasn't a bad omen for out trip. Turns out it was.
Between the cabin of the boat with broken air conditioning, a semi functioning toilet, all day chain-smoking Brandon, and the diesel fumes pumping into the cabin from outside it's no wonder a couple kids with us got barfy. I'd you do deep sea plan on spending about 3 hrs of your fishing day driving to and from where to fish in the boat. We also got cut off an hour early so 4 hrs of our day was pretty nill.
When it comes to outdoor comfort, the fishing platform of the boat is also quite small and With 6 people and a first mate crammed in the space it was pretty tight. There weren't any places to sit out there either and you just had to figure out a spot and make it work without getting wet. If you didn't like it you were confined to the musty, hot cabin. That was one of our primary complaints. Another was that they used the same bait the entire day when it was clear nothing was going to bite it. You would think that there would be some creativity there with bait but not so much.
At the end of the day we got back and hour early and they laid out our wee catch. 3 more fish were added to it and were later confirmed to be from a trip the day before by the guy cleaning "our" fish. He ended up tossing them, this was after the fish were weighed and we paid for cleaning the old fish that were thrown out.
All in all we were disappointed in the whole thing. I feel bad I had my brother drive 9 hrs down from wv the day before just to sit thru it and catch nothing.

We chartered a four-hour near-shore trip during our Thanksgiving vacation and loved every minute of it! Our group of four included three adults and one child (ten years old).
The boat was spacious (includes a living room and bathroom!), the fishing great, and the Captain and his mate were on top of their fishing game. It paid off and we were lucky enough to catch about sixty pounds of False Albacore which we took home and promptly cooked and ate. Delicious!
We'll certainly charter the Fishin' Fannatic when we return to Nags Head in the Spring!

It's always a beautiful day on the water. With that said, we scheduled a half day, near shore charter on July 4th. When I called to reserve the trip I specifically asked if we could use live bait and I was told yes there would be some on board. The day of...we went out and started trolling with lures and not live bait. When I asked where the live bait was, I was given a crazy look and told that they didn’t have any. So, it was about an hour before we caught anything. The first one that was caught was reeled half way in by the first mate (Tom) because he didn't even know there was a fish on the line. When the second one was caught, the pole was given to one of my daughters and Tom yelled at her for not backing up fast enough. The third was the smallest of the three Spanish mackerel. At this point, I asked Tom if we could cut the tiny fish that were caught and use that for bait and I was told no and given another crazy look. Then I went up to the Capt. Mark and ask him if we could do a little bottom fishing to try to catch something, so my daughter's could have a little fun and again was told "NO". Told him that I wasn't expecting a fish every 5 mins but atleast give us some opportunity with some live bait and us holding a pole. At this point I was asked if I was "cross examining him" I said no sir, just trying to do something nice for my daughter's.....
After that we trolled for another hour then headed back in...
So... after $700, a few dirty looks, told no several times and no live bait we walked away with only an expensive boat ride. A boat that was nice but that was also in the middle of being remodeled which was not mentioned when the trip was booked. Overall, I will not be returning to Fishing Fanatics and I encourage others to look elsewhere. In the end, it was not about the fish biting, it was about the experience, and this experience was not enjoyable.

Beautiful day, but no fish. It was a rough day for everyone fishing, but when we asked about switching to target bottom fish vs. Just top water teasers/green stick, we were told that Tile fish and wreck fish weren't bitting and it wouldn't be worth it. So the whole day we did nothing. Captain Mark tried getting us on tuna, but no other options were ever entertained. It was frustrating since days earlier I called and was told that the boat was ready for any and every kind of fishing.

Website states fully air condition salon. Well their normal boat was having work done and they were using someone else’s. Which did not have any ac. 11 hour fishing trip in 95 degree weather with no ac. 6 people two small fish. I understand things happen but a phone call about the boat switch should have been made prior to us showing up. Or at least a discount because that’s not what I paid for or what the website stated.
