Fantastic campgrounds. Historically 30 amp services but they are installing 50 amp throughout the park. They do not have sewer hookups which would be very nice, but the do have a dump station that is conveniently located.

Many good hiking trails. Beaches are nice with plenty of parking but the water is dirty and probably not very safe for swimming

We began our visit at the Visitor Center. There were several brochures available on many subjects. We chose the one outlining the trails in the park. We decided on the trail that crosses the dam. The views from that vantage point were lovely. There were...More

The bathrooms and bath house are both lacking in amenities. No running or flushable toilets at the bathrooms. The showers only give you a minute of water per push on the button.

We rented two of the picnic shelters for a company function and it worked out great! Adequate parking as well - though we did do the event off the main summer season

I would have given it 5* if they had 50 amp service. The sites are large (big rig friendly) and secluded. We had a hard time seeing our neighbor. Staff was excellent as well. The restrooms and showers though dated were spotless and lots of...More

I am not aware of any regular boat tours on Falls Lake. You might go some searches for boating places and call around.

Falls Lake State Recreation Area (2 Replies)
I agreed to a friends and family camping trip at Holly Point this spring. Can anyone give me any info on things to do or what to expect? I'm especially wondering about boat/canoe rentals on the lake or things to do in Durham if it rains all weekend. I've never been to the area, so any "must do's" would be great info too. Thanks in advance for any help.

Please let us know how you like it. We are thinking about visiting this spring/ early summer also and know almost nothing about the area either. We have our own boat we will be dragging so just wondering how the lakes are?
