Once the Jackson County Courthouse--of course the pols had to have a new structure, but fortunately there was power behind saving the old Courthouse and making it into an excellent library. For once intelligence reigned.
The library was absolutely beautiful! We love the entrance. The outside was clean and the inside was even cleaner. A great selection of children’s books and activities. Plenty of things to do. A great site to see if you’re in the area!
For a small town library this place is amazing! Besides being beautiful. It's well stocked. Well run. Their computer area is great. And the views are exquisite.

A beautiful library in a beautiful mountain setting. The library is in a part of the historic Jackson County Courthouse.Be sure and view the exhibits scattered throughout as well as the stained glass installations.
Located inside the historic Sylva courthouse built in 1914. Beautiful building worth visiting. We noticed that Sylva really emphasizes books and reading. Friends of the library also have a store downtown. There are about five bookstores in downtown Sylva.
