Please note, if you are reading older reviews, the playground has all new equipment as of the beginning of November 2019! My family stopped here to let the kids run off steam before making our long journey home from the beach. We're glad we did! It is a great little playground with scenic views of the bay and the Surf City Bridge. The brand new play equipment is quite interesting, with a variety of climbing areas (sailing ship themed), spinners, spring dolphins, and so on. We love the spinning orb cage thing, and even us parents took a turn in it! There are clean, accessible bathrooms close by, picnic tables & a pavilion (I don't recall seeing grills), plenty of free parking, and even a cute little free library box! Stop here on your way in or out from your beach vacation as we did to let your kids stretch their legs, or as a diversion from the regular beach activities. Also, right nearby is the Surf City Bridge, with a separated walking area to take in the views of the bay.

Nice little park near the bridge in Durf City. Big playground, cover spots to picnic, fishing, boat launch, kayak & SUP launch, and more. We loved the boardwalk through the marsh.

Soundside park is a nice place to stop and take a walk. We parked and walked the park and across the bridge. The walkways are well maintained and it’s a great place to see local birds.

This park is the perfect place to go when you want to get off the beach. Whether you spend the day or just an hour, there's lots to do at Soundside Park.

The park is located next to the Topsail Island swing bridge, making it a nice place to get photos of the bridge, passing boats, wetlands and wildlife.

There is a large playground area for children and several pavilion type picnic areas. The park is build around a small bay and there is a boardwalk that goes around it. There's a boat launch, fishing pier and several other platforms out over the water. There's a long boardwalk out over the wetlands that stretches between the park and ends up closer to the ocean. That boardwalk also features a wooden replica of the swing bridge. It is very scenic.

The park is also the site of many activities throughout the summer, including movies and concerts in the park on Friday nights. The Surf City website has info surfcity.govoffice.com

Avoid Surf City, the police will write a $50 parking ticket and there will not be a no parking sign in sight! They will never get another dime from me as a tourist. In today's Internet age they actually think they can do this without some negative feedback? I spend more than $50 on a restaurant tab, they will have to live with the lost revenue from me and my friends and of course everyone on TripAdvisor! There are lots of other beaches to go to in that area.

My kids favorite playground on the island (there are several in Surf City which I think is fabulous.) Great crabbing and fishing for the little ones too. Park and Recreation do a great job sponsoring things at the park for holidays and friday nights. Its well maintained and always a hub of activity at the boat launch. Decent parking and bathroom facilities. Lovely views of the sound and swingbridge. Fun place to visit playground, walk around to see the views, throw a frisbee, and picnic (there's some nice covered picnic tables as well as nice glider loveseats to take in the view.)

Located right after the bridge going into Surf City, clean with ample parking and clean bathrooms. On Friday evenings during the summer, they offer a free 'family movie night'. You can bring your own snacks and lounge chairs. Pet friendly, with a nice park for the kids. Walking pier adds to the scenery. They also have a walkway that heads towards the beach, which is about a four minute walk. Boat ramp and fishing too, nice to picnic or just sit by the water and enjoy the view.

Decided to take a trip to Surf City where I use to fish almost every weekend in the 70's. I was suprised to see so much development in the area. I noticed a new area just to the right as you cross the old bridge. I turned in to see what it was and was pleasantly surprised to see a new
Sound side recreation area. Complete with new pier, boat launches, picnic areas, playgrounds, and an outdoor theater for movies/stage shows on weekends. Still have the ole memories of wading through the mud and grass to fish there, but its amazing now for families and friends

I hadn't been to Topsail Island in over ten years and decided to check out this park since it was not there when I was last on the island. I am glad I did! The pier doesn't look like much but if you enjoy catching fish then you need to go there. As soon as my hook hit the water I had a fish on the line and that's no exaggeration. They also have restroom facilities on site so that's handy!

I visited the Sound Side park after visiting Surf City for business this past week. The park is meticulously maintained by the city. There is a nice children's play area, a gazebo for outdoor concerts, boat ramps, and a boardwalk for just strolling around and enjoying some amazing views....

There is plenty of parking and it is close to some take out restaurants for bringing back your lunch and sitting outside to enjoy your meal.

The Surf City people have a winner in Sound Side Park......
