We really enjoyed Grassy Creek. The wine is good - definitely on the sweeter side - and the people are friendly. The tasting room is in a beautiful old barn and they bottle some of their wines in glass milk bottles as an ode to the former dairy farm on the property. We enjoyed our flights of wine. It was raining during covid, we were getting hungry, and our picnic plans looked thwarted, but they welcomed us to sit in their lovely outdoor covered area or to eat inside while we enjoyed our wine. It looks like they had some games set-up outside for sunnier days and a trail to hike as well. We’ll have to come back!

This was a beautiful space to do wine tasting in. They have a wine tasting room with super friendly staff who are super knowledgeable about the wines and are passionate about it too! I loved the Golden Guernsey, which was the sweeter wine. The tasting room has a lot of different seating with games and a fireplace. There’s also local cheeses and snacks that can be purchased as well as beer from a local brewery. They also had corn hole and outdoor games for warmer days. They also have a wine club for those interested and events on the calendar on different days throughout the season. Definitely recommend checking this out!

This is a beautiful place. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Enjoyed our wine flights by the fireplace. Found my favorite wine and purchased a glass for our walk on the trail. It was so much fun. Maybe next time we will stay a little longer (or maybe stay in one of the cabins) and enjoy one of the fire pits they have. Thanks for the wonderful afternoon! (Next time I'm also purchasing some cheese to go with my wine haha!)

Great property and lots of outside seating. Was disappointed in the tasting. There was nothing that was even OK. It is rare that we can not find something that is decent between two if us, but sadly true. Also would have liked some interaction from staff. They were friendly but basically poured both tastings and put on a try and no interaction. There are lots of beautiful local wineries that have some decent wine so glad we tried this place but glad there are other places to go. To be fair, we did not taste the sweet wines.

We decided to stop by in search of a delicious red wine and found two. Loved the Red Barn Blend and Barbera! If you are touring wineries in the Elkin area, this is a Must Stop. Little off the path but worth the trip!

This was our first time visiting this winery, and we very much enjoyed our visit. The tasting room is in one of the original horse barns, and has been transitioned in to a lovely tasting room. The staff was incredibly friendly and shared very interesting stories about the history of the farm. Be sure to ask about Klondike, the cow. Nice wines. We definitely go back. There are also several cabins on the property which are for rent.

My wife and I visited Grassy Creek on a recent trip to the Yadkin Valley wine region in North Carolina. Although we have visited a couple of other wineries in the area, this was our first trip to Grassy Creek, which was founded in 2003 in Elkin, NC at a historic site locally known as Klondike Farm.

The Red Barn Tasting Room, which was at one time a horse stable, provided the setting for a delicious wine tasting experience. For just $7.00, you will get to pick tastes of 6 wines from Grassy Creeks' wine list, which includes various red, white and semi-sweet selections. Our tasting room server, Wayne, was truly a joy. He was friendly and courteous, and offered some historical perspective on the history of Grassy Creek and the surrounding area, in between pours.

At the conclusion of our tasting, my wife and I had some difficult choices to make. After careful consideration, however, we bought bottles of the 2015 Unoaked Chardonnay, the 2013 Chambourcin, and the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. Needless to say, we are looking forward to enjoying our selections at home over the next several months.

So if you are interested in doing some wine tasting in the Yadkin Valley, and are looking for a unique, down home experience in a truly rural, rustic setting, take some time to check out Grassy Creek Vineyards, and if you are fortunate enough to have Wayne conduct your tasting, you'll have a great time and learn some local history as well!

Of the 5 Yadkin Valley wineries we visited (Shelton, Raffaldini, McRitchie, Elkin Creen and here) this was by far the least tasty wine. The place is a decent size, cute and had live music on a Saturday in October, so those are pluses. Service a bit slow, but not too bad. Their $8 bread - we did not have it, but it was Harris Teeter Brand made in a toaster oven. Bizarre.

Great winery and vineyard. The old barn is now a tasting room, the wine bottles in milk jugs, the atmosphere, and the friendly staff make this a very unique and fun winery to visit.
