Great property and lots of outside seating. Was disappointed in the tasting. There was nothing that was even OK. It is rare that we can not find something that is decent between two if us, but sadly true. Also would have liked some interaction from staff. They were friendly but basically poured both tastings and put on a try and no interaction. There are lots of beautiful local wineries that have some decent wine so glad we tried this place but glad there are other places to go. To be fair, we did not taste the sweet wines.

I felt the wines all had unusual, chemical flavors. I drink a variety of wines, so it's not a matter of inexperience or personal preference for dry versus sweet. I am sorry, because I would love to support local vineyards. I visited 2 other Surry County vineyards the same day, and the wines at both were quite good, so I am not snubbing NC wineries.

This is a beautiful place. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Enjoyed our wine flights by the fireplace. Found my favorite wine and purchased a glass for our walk on the trail. It was so much fun. Maybe next time we will stay a little longer (or maybe stay in one of the cabins) and enjoy one of the fire pits they have. Thanks for the wonderful afternoon! (Next time I'm also purchasing some cheese to go with my wine haha!)

Arrived on a Monday. Great stop! The servers were laid back ( a relief after the hard sell at the previous winery). They had beer, too. Didn't know that at first so Can't comment. The Cab. Sauvignon was full of flavor. Can't wait to share back home! Met the Owner - laid back dude. Fun to talk with.

Relaxed atmosphere. Very beautiful setting with options to hike in to a waterfall. Wines were ok. Especially liked the whites. Food truck available along with Cheese and crackers. Really yummy pallet cleansing crackers served with the wine. Friendly staff and lovely live music.

We decided to stop by in search of a delicious red wine and found two. Loved the Red Barn Blend and Barbera! If you are touring wineries in the Elkin area, this is a Must Stop. Little off the path but worth the trip!

We enjoyed our wine tasting and talking with one of the owners who was working the tasting area. We were one of 4 couples visiting and tasting. The favorite for both of us was Guernsey Table Wine, which is bottled in an old milk jug. All of the wines were excellent but this was sweeter and so my husband made this pick. If you are interested they do have cabins that can be rented on the property. It is a beautiful wooded area along the vineyard.

This was our first time visiting this winery, and we very much enjoyed our visit. The tasting room is in one of the original horse barns, and has been transitioned in to a lovely tasting room. The staff was incredibly friendly and shared very interesting stories about the history of the farm. Be sure to ask about Klondike, the cow. Nice wines. We definitely go back. There are also several cabins on the property which are for rent.

My wife and I visited Grassy Creek on a recent trip to the Yadkin Valley wine region in North Carolina. Although we have visited a couple of other wineries in the area, this was our first trip to Grassy Creek, which was founded in 2003 in Elkin, NC at a historic site locally known as Klondike Farm.

The Red Barn Tasting Room, which was at one time a horse stable, provided the setting for a delicious wine tasting experience. For just $7.00, you will get to pick tastes of 6 wines from Grassy Creeks' wine list, which includes various red, white and semi-sweet selections. Our tasting room server, Wayne, was truly a joy. He was friendly and courteous, and offered some historical perspective on the history of Grassy Creek and the surrounding area, in between pours.

At the conclusion of our tasting, my wife and I had some difficult choices to make. After careful consideration, however, we bought bottles of the 2015 Unoaked Chardonnay, the 2013 Chambourcin, and the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. Needless to say, we are looking forward to enjoying our selections at home over the next several months.

So if you are interested in doing some wine tasting in the Yadkin Valley, and are looking for a unique, down home experience in a truly rural, rustic setting, take some time to check out Grassy Creek Vineyards, and if you are fortunate enough to have Wayne conduct your tasting, you'll have a great time and learn some local history as well!
