This is a very quaint fishing village that speaks, friendly, peaceful, and relaxing to anyone that visits. I don't want to write too much because too many people will visit and make it too commercial. It is perfect just the way it is. You can ride your bike anywhere and feel safe and secure at every turn. I just want to visit often and have a do-over! All the shops, restaurants and centers are so unique. Too bad it is so far away and I can't visit everyday. You will not regret your visit from one afternoon to a week or month! Try it soon.

As you are driving down 211 towards water, look to your left for signage announcing "11 Shops at Olde Southport Village" . There are 11 little houses decked out in lively Key West colors. Each house holds a different shopping experience. Make sure you talk to the shop owners. They are wonderful. Visit the General Store by the water wheel for a cold A&W Root beer. The address is: 1102 S. Howe Street, Southport, NC.

These shops are so cute! I have been coming to Southport for 7 years and I love going shopping! I never knew about these shops. It is still the off season so only a few shops were open and it was raining all day. I enjoyed myself and found unique handmade products!

Maybe past time? This space is tired and the infrastructure weary. Shop owners were 90% absent when I visited during “normal” hours. Had hoped it would be a fun visit to see all the little independent shops. For to go into 2. Maybe I misunderstood how it works. Nevertheless, some standard of hours could be helpful.

Unfortunately its a poorly managed sad little place. All too often the shop owners are not there and the doors remain unopened. What should be a cute idea is unfortunately brought down by just a few of the shop owners. One in particular tries to run the other shops out of business if they don't agree with her management. I felt sorry for many of the owners who complained of the buildings disrepair and lack of decent parking and lack of signage pointing you to them. The hidden treasures of the Village are the General Store which is run by a sweet older man and Stacey's Jewelry... which is run by a sweet but crazy woman who looks and acts stoned. She has great stories and makes pretty trinkets (though way overpriced.). The woman in the Pink building can sometimes be heard gossiping about other store owners and she will cover you in lotions as soon as you walk in her door. She is worse then a used car salesman the way she tries to force you into buying things from her. And her claims of them magically healing all kinds of ailments reminded me of a woman mixing potions and practicing Witchcraft. She completely freaked my son out and he refuses to ever go back again. Her "deodorant" didn't work, her homemade shampoo was a thick thick thick gooey paste which did not clean your hair at all and was hard to get out of your hair, soaps and lotions gave me a rash and when I contacted her about it for a refund she refused to give me one and told me she didn't believe me. Save your money and head to downtown Southport where the shop owners havent given up on life and they have real charm and great variety!

The buildings in this little shopping "village" are all old homes moved to this site. They were renovated and individually turned into little shops for antiques, crafts, ice cream, gifts, jewelry, collectibles, and my favorite...a general store with homemade jams and jellys. Each building is a different bright color and it's a joy just to walk around on their raised wooden sidewalk. Be sure to stop by the general store for some apple butter.

Southport is an absolutely beautiful seaport town . Went here because of the movie , Safe Haven , which was filmed here . Wonderful , friendly people , nice ferry ride to the Aquarium, which is great. Excellent restaurants . There is nothing not to like . The whole 3 day experience was outstanding . Also : no parking meters , no paid parking lots , no fast food restaurants . Absolutely lovely place .

We came a little too early. Come around 11am or later. You may purchase jelly, jams, pottery, antiques and whimsical decor. There is a BBQ joint next door that had delicious smells. We were a little early for lunch.

It is really a shame because the location has a ton of character and potential, but now most of the buildings are just empty.

We enjoyed driving around and going into some antique shops. We went to the area because we had seen a movie filmed there and it looked rather quaint. It was very enjoyable for a few hours to see.
