Bring lots of balls the first time you play. Lots of hidden water that you can not see from the tee. That being said, a fun course with spectacular views. I’ll come back now that I know the course.

Ha! When you get an email from Rivers Edge, the address is “noreplyquick18”.
Ha! Ha!
Quick 18 my foot. 5.5 hrs.
No effective marshalls.

When we got in our cart, no one said,
“oh sir, range balls are extra” or
“oh sir, there are no scorecards on your cart”. So we drive to the range and have to drive back to the clubhouse.

So what I’m saying is that it is poorly managed.
Now, can I talk about the golf??

It is a fun course though very quirky.
Too many blind tee shots where you are aiming at a white stake which may or may not be in proper position depending on your tees and length. At least a 5 stroke disadvantage if you do not know the course.

Holes on the marsh are absolutely beautiful.
Too bad they don’t manage it right.

River's Edge was in excellent shape and the layout is very tough but fair from the different tee boxes. It has a lot of sand and water and it is a shot maker's course but a very fun experience. Staff was very accommodating. and would play there again.

If you don't hit the ball fairly straight, bring lots of golf balls...this definitely a "target" golf layout! We had a lot of rain and some of the bunkers were filled with water but they were pumping them out and doing the best they could. Very fast greens with lots of undulation and tough to play if it is Cart Path Only like it was yesterday. Staff was very hospitable and the price was excellent for locals....Course was really packed with players, but we did a 4 1/2 round which was good considering it was Cart Path Only. Will go back and play it again!

Played here in November. Course was in good shape. Definitely target golf - no grip and rip it strategy here. We found the front nine more challenging that back. Arnie's revenge #9 is ridiculous. Club house/deck was great for after golf cocktails. Positive experience.

Staff was very welcoming, greens and fairways in much better shape than in recent years; sand traps were somewhat better but still not acceptable for price charged to play

The golf course has lots of water, most holes. Lots of carry needed. The restaurant is average but has great views,

Well I play this course once a year and always am glad I did. In the past I have come up to punched greens but not much you can do about that.

THis time around I brought a friend who was playing for the first time. Now we got thr 2:48 tee time which is the last offered...... I would LOVE to play this course at 6:00pm and be the last one end but that option doesnt seem available anywhere which is a shame.

Now to the course this week. It was great. Maybe one of the best rounds at RE. Staff here is SOOOOO GOOD! We got there early and went off the back and finished in 3.5 hours and played at our own pace which didnt seem fast at all, just comfortable.

#9 is a tricked up hole providing NO EASY SHOT. Tee Shot is blind, second to the green is almost impossible (I hit a 2 iron to 8 feet and sank it for eagle which is the first in my 15 rounds here) LAyup is HARD, chip is HARD, going for it is like I said almost impossible. Its georgeous all along the intercoastal but WAY TOO HARD. Holes 15-18 are as pretty as you will ever see on the grand strand. Hard if you are right handed and slice but the view is peaceful and amazing.

Greens were in pretty good shape, little slow but in good shape.

Donn at the bag stop is a really good guy, cant say enough about his hospitality. Good cigar selection at the bar as well with some well made drinks! Cheap beer prices......

This is a must play if you are in the area.

River's Edge golf course sits on the side of the Shallotte River. The club house is located high above the river and has tremendous views of holes 9 and 18 greens and the estuary down to the Intracoastal Waterway. The shaded veranda at the rear of the club house is a great place to chill after a round or to just visit, have lunch and a drink. The food is very good. After my round today I had a Chef's Salad which was delicious and plentiful. The course is very challenging with elevation changes on several holes. Today it was in wonderful condition though the bunkers do need attention and new sand. It is an Arnold Palmer design and apparently Arnold had plenty of problems playing the par 5 9th hole.

Have tried to play this beautiful course 3 times BUT ONLY ONCE WAS IT A A SUCCESS! Just played or tried to play in the rain for the 2nd time. Cart path only (CPO) IS A BRIDGE TOO FAR HERE AND FOR THE OLD MARSHAL TO UNDERSTAND SLOW PLAY AND STANDING COURSE WATER. Wanted my group of 26 to speed up : hello!!! Are you kidding!!!? NOT POSSIBLE WITH rain, conditions, CPO . The marshal suffers from a grave learning curve. The group had a 36 hole play planned but that went south in a hurry. my 4some picked up too much during our play and didn't play the last 5 hole on t he back because of conditions, that marshal and we were disgusted! Play @ your own risk. OBTW: THEY DIDN'T OFFER A 36 HOLE REFUND-HELLO FOLKS
