There were 4 of us playing and really enjoyed the course. It is a challenging course but hey, who doesn't like a challenge that makes you step up your game? To warm up, a bag of practice balls are included in your green fee. There are no bunkers on the course but a lot of sandy areas and only a... More

LoriB, *Golf Clap* While we all love the game in many ways, perhaps one of the most universal is the love of a good challenge. In the words of Dr. Alister MacKenzie, “The elusiveness of golf is sufficient to ensure its abiding popularity. No one ever seems to master it. You imagine that you have got the secret, but it... This is by far our favorite golf course in the world (and I've played Augusta National, St. Andrews, TPC Sawgrass and Bethpage). Tobacco Road challenges every part of your game, yet it is so fair. Every hole is memorable and fun in its own way. Not many courses can say that. The views from the tees will intimidate you the... More

Tennessee-JC, WOW! We are honored to be held in such high regard. Thank you for the great review and your continued support of Tobacco Road. Mike Strantz said it best after his first visit to the property, “I knew immediately it could be something not only spectacular but unique.” See you next year, Martha More

Just returned from our annual golf trip to the Sandhills area. Tobacco Road was incredible shape considering the heat. The new greens remain fabulous. We like the course so much that we play it on 2 days of our 5 day trip. A special thanks to Julie at Tobacco Road Travel who has helped us book our trip, she is... More

Dear Northerngolfnut, A five-day golf trip sounds like the best kind of vacation! Thank you for including us in your annual trip, not just once, but twice. The golf course has been in excellent shape and all credit goes to our superintendent and his crew, who are among the hardest working in the business. Julie is an excellent travel coordinator... 2nd 18 of the day. What great condition! The more times you play it the better your score. We were already tired from the morning round at another course. The temperature was about 95. 3 of the coolers were empty, no water. We left our hole and went a long way to the clubhouse to get water. When we arrived... More

1210WillieO, Summer in the Sandhills is hot and humid, and we do apologize that the water stations were empty during your round. The outside staff at Tobacco Road has procedures in place to check and refill water coolers throughout the day to help keep up with water consumption. However, there are days when temperatures are up and the course is... More

As always the course was in great shape and even though we recently had a lot of rain we were able to get off the cart path. Most of us got off the tee on the intimidating first hole, but as always that was just the beginning of the adventure. The new hybrid Bermuda greens have come in nicely and... More

Bobwannamker, Thank you for the great review and on target observations. Mike Strantz helped pioneer a movement to bold designs, original features, and spotlighting the natural terrain in its rugged beauty. After he was done with that, he created a golf course that is immensely fun to play with ample birdie opportunities around every corner. Hope to see you again... More

Very fun and interesting golf course. Not long but if you stray off the tee you could come up with some ugly shots. We paid $110, which all in the group was too much. I would say its a $70-$80 course. Several problems We had to switch golf carts three times before we could finish our round. Too expensive Too... More

Outstanding experience, challenging course, and tons of fun. This course is as beautiful as it is perplexing. It will test all of your course management and playing skills. The greens are near perfect. The staff was most welcoming and helpful. Special thanks to Martha and the course starter. I'll be back.
