16th Birthday fiasco
Sep 2019
We had our daughter's 16th birthday party last night, we reserved the pool area and the Marathon Bar over a year ago. The Marathon Bar will house the tables and chairs, appetizers, dinner buffet, cake and ice cream bar, and the bar area for drinks for adults. Victoria Harper (event coordinator) was efficient and organized during the planning stages. On event day, the place was set up with tables and chairs and areas for food and drinks, but the whole place was so hot, the portable AC wasn't cooling the room, the ceiling fans were not working, we were given 1 small stand fan full of dust, and no lights were working at all. According to the staff, the power went out 2 days ago and the place was just running on a generator. Because of the oppressive heat inside, we asked the staff to move the tables and chairs to the patio area where there was some breeze. We were given some tiki torches, but it was not enough to light the area and keep the bugs away. This was not what was in the contract. At about 7:45pm, the bar was in complete darkness, there was no source of light whatsoever, the bathrooms were so dark, guests were using their cellphones for light. The bartenders even had to use their cellphones to serve the drinks.
I called the place this morning to relay our complaints, and Mr Durkin (Director of food and beverage) apologized and offered to make amends for the situation. We appreciate his apologies, but the whole situation and humiliation jut left a mark on the event. We cannot recommend this place for any kind of event.
Almost 2 months later, we haven't heard from any of the staff even from the General Manager. This shows that this place does not value and does not respect their customers once the fees have been collected.

We enjoyed this course. Played it with two other groups. Everyone thought it was a fair test and the conditions were also very good.

Best in Sanford
Dec 2018 • Family
I'm reviewing the Dining Room/Pub, fitness club, and pool. We joined the club as residents of Carolina Trace in a Property Owners Association that does not have a pool in our own neighborhood. We are temporary residents, due to our occupation, and have lived here in the past. When we live here, we always join the club. They offer several options of membership, depending on what amenities you'd like access to. We adore the Country Club, especially in the summer, because you must have access to someplace to swim in the summer in NC! Before we joined the club, we used the public pool in Sanford, and it's always dirty and crowded. This is much closer, cleaner, and quieter! There is no food service on Monday and Tuesday, but we love to order dinner in the summer poolside on Sunday evenings. It's like a mini-vacation! We've dined out and about in Sanford, and this dining room is bright, beautiful, and peaceful. The menu at the dining room/pub here is always changing, and everything we order is delicious. The staff is attentive and friendly. We use the fitness center several times per week, and it has been recently renovated. State of the art cardio machines and weight machines make it so easy to track workouts, weight setttings, and height adjustments. There is a wide variety of group fitness classes from which to choose, as well, though we leave the club by 7 a.m. so don't participate in those. People here are down-to-earth, hard-working, and create a wonderful community. When you're here, you're home!

Wedding
Jun 2018 • Couples
My son got married here. We had problems throughout the whole service.Victoria was not our original planner, it seemed like she didn't like the fact that we were grandfathered in on prices so was looking for money any other way she could get it. Victoria offered drinks to the wedding party during set up and Said nothing,.Then right before the reception came to me and told me I had to pay for the drinks, She should of mentioned to the guys they were not free. First of all chairs at the cocktail hour had spider webs on them, leaving webs all over our clothes and they weren't prepared for cocktail hour. We had a sand ceremony and combined the sand as their lives blended. They were supposed to bring it upstairs. It never made it. Come to find out it was boxed up broken, we asked them to replace it they refused. Also our tables were not cleared throughout the night, their reply we don't want to disrupt the wedding, I have never been to a wedding where I had to sit with dirty dishes and unwanted.food all night. Also from the very beginning of the reception they ran out of booze and beer, not just once but a few times. We paid for a full bar and they used tactics to save money on the booze and not have it readily available. Then to top it all off 2 members of the staff spent the night hitting on the wedding party and trying to get phone numbers. Then these 2 staff members and the photo booth attendant took pictures of themselves sticking the middle finger up and even put it in the photo album book and gave it to my son. Then we paid for a burger bar and French fries at the end of the night and was not at all what we asked for not to mention the burgers were raw and the French fries didn't come out until we asked for them. We called Jeffrey Crabbe the manager and all he would do was say we do things by the contract and some of our tactics are the way we do things. Then after waiting for responses from Jeffrey he just blew us off and stopped responding. Maybe he will respond now.

Lakes course is in great condition
Sep 2018 • Friends
Which is a bonus after a hot North Carolina summer. Greens and fairways in great shape. First time we played here. I grabbed another sleeve of balls with the lake course name. Not to worry, not many holes with water. Pay attention on the 10th hole I think it was with the brick wall. Lay up here.

I live here and it is a great place to retire. We have two great Robert Trent Jones Golf Courses and a huge lake for fishing or boating. We have met so many wonderful friends.

The Best!

The Lake course was awesome-The greens well maintained, the bunkers in perfect condition-I discovered when my ball came crashing into one. The Clubhouse is improving and the tennis is in great shape....same with the pool. It is hard to go on vacation and find a better place then the trace!

Very Nice Course
Nov 2017 • Couples
We had a nice day at the Lake Course at Carolina Trace. The staff and clubhouse were excellent - really nice bathrooms. The course was in great shape, including the high volume of sand traps. I would say the course may have been overly challenging due to the high volume of sand traps. We did find some of the signage to be confusing- for example, we saw a lot of cart path only signs even though the course was dry and it didn't appear that the regulars were heeding the signs.

Had a wonderful time at course. Only bad thing is I don’t know think paths are clearly marked nor distances. Weaves in and out of houses and very hard d to know where to go. Course in great shape and challenging.

Great track, great shape and friendly
Sep 2017 • Friends
But desperately in need of more water stops. This is a great course, challenging, and in good shape. A neighborhood ‘our’ course that serves the area, you will find plenty of challenge with very good rolling greens. The clubhouse is ‘southern friendly’ and you’ll enjoy after golf there, unless you die on the course from lack of water. Please hear me....whatever your have is just not enough without cart service. Otherwise i liked it very much.
