We got here early on a Sunday morning at the tail end of the school summer holidays. Parking was easy at that time, right next to the beach. We grabbed a coffee from the Coffee Bean van (v good coffee) and walked along this beautiful stretch of powdery white sand.
After sitting for a while we decided to walk over the headland along the trail to adjacent Thistle Cove. This was an easy walk and we met only one couple on our return leg. Otherwise it was just us and the birds and the amazing views.
Back at the end of Lucky Bay, below the Flinders memorial, we cut down to the beach for a refreshing swim. By this time there were a lot more people around, but it didn’t feel busy or noisy. And when I came out of the water there were two kangaroos having a drink from the fresh water running down the beach into the sea. They were unperturbed by us, although once they were spotted by others there was a steady stream of people pricking their way over the sand to take photos!
Altogether a magical day at a wonderful place.

We got told about this area by our host at our Air B and B this was not on our plans but found time to drive out there to see it.
So glad we did it was out standing the whole area our phone and cameras got a big work out so much to see and the colors of the water the rock views.
It cost 15 dollars a car to get in but so worth it and what you get to see the amazing West Australian coastline it a must see allow plenty of time do not rush this area
if you have a 4WD there is beach driving if you are into that

A gorgeous place that easily rivals whitehaven beach in Queensland. Roos can come down to eat when the sun starts to go down and seem quite happy to get up close with tourists. Well worth the trek.

A visit to Lucky Bay is a must for anyone who visits Esperance. The drive out was about 60km on good road. The bay is pristine and the water is clear and azure. We did not swim as it was too cold but those who did said it was freezing but in the summer it would be amazing as the water is so very clear. The whitest of sand is almost pure silica so it is soft and very very fine, and squeaks under your feet. It's dazzling to see. The downside here is that vehicles are allowed to drive on the beach hence, even if you find a nice spot up the beach, you're likely to have several 4WD vehicles pass you which is annoying and such a shame to allow this. We found this an issue at any of the beaches within the Park. You'd be sitting quietly on a rock and then some idiot in a 4WD would drive past on the beach. The amenities at the Bay are very good in fact the whole National Park was well organised with toilets and picnic tables etc. There are toilets very close to the beach at Lucky Bay. They are ECO toilets but kept very clean and don't smell. There are facilities to camp or park a caravan close to the Bay. Dogs are not allowed as it is a National Park. Payment was about $15.00 per car which was entry to the whole National Park, not just Lucky Bay.

Arguably one of the best beaches in WA.
Made better by the sightings of mother and baby kangaroo hopping along the beach.
They even had an all day coffee truck on the actual sand.
What more could you ask for than squeaky white sand, the turquoise ocean, some cuddly animals and a coffee all in one place. All you need is a good chair to relax in.

The jewel in Cape Le Grande National Park and as such it is popular and busy. Walk the beach among the kangaroos, walk on the whitest of white sand, enjoy a coffee from the locally-run cafe-van, go for a walk to the next bay, or just have a relaxing time. Park fees are payable upon entry.

Lucky Bay is gorgeous. Even though it was windy and cold when we came past we still were able to see how beautiful this place is. Whilst we didn't see the resident Kanga's because of the weather, we still went for a walk on the beach and took tonnes of photos. Probably my fave beach in Esperance, can only imagine what it's like in good weather. The squeaky sand was really cool and the water just so blue. Definitely recommend as a must see.

This place is beautiful, a nice place to sit and watch the world go by. We had brought a $7 coffee that was small but it was too nice and was worth the. Money and the damper and quandong jam was beautiful, tastes just like my Mum used to make. A nice touch and addition to lucky Bay.

Lucky Bay was our first impression of the beaches in Cape Le Grand and it literally took our breath away. There was a bit of seaweed around at the time so not at its best but the colours were amazing. You can take your 4x4 down to the beach and the sand is hard. You cannot drive all the way around as you get to the rocks at the end which is an impass. Worth having a look around the rocks as the colours intensify there. The camping grounds are well maintained and have toilets and showers .There were plenty of spaces when we visited but I would book ahead in busy times. The coffee van down on the beach is a great idea and they make great coffees.Lucky bean is its name.I think they are only there on the weekends but I could be wrong.Lots of hiking trails to be done in the area but just be aware that there are snakes in the park but they are more scared of you then you are of them.Dress suitably for hiking.

Another amazing beach. I loved the squeaky sand and the water. My only dislike was the cars being allowed on the beach which I felt was a little dangerous given there are lots of kids on the beach. Maybe one part could be car free to the right and to the left towards the rocks car free. We never saw any kangaroos when we were there sadly. Fabulous camping grounds close by too.

We are a couple of seniors with knee issues. Is Luck Bay accessible by non 4 WD and is it a long walk from the car park to Lucky Bay please ? Any advice appreciated. Cheers

Is that any entrance fee to Lucky Bay? And also car parking fee. Thank you!
Written February 24, 2019
Yes and No. It's a national park so there is an entrance fee, but you can buy these online for a small fee. If you plan tp go to more than one NO, get a Holiday Pass for $46 or Annual Pass $92 (concessions apply.

Can you book a particular sight,or is it first in best dressed. Have a large van hoping it will fit when arrive.
Written February 10, 2019
It is best to book in advance. Lucky Bay is popular with locals and tourists, particularly at times of celebration.

Really recommend B&B By the Sea in Esperance - 45 min drive from Lucky Bay! Below this accomodation, you find a beautiful "mini-version" of Lucky Bay with the same true-white sand and turqouise water. Second recommendation: Spend an extra day in the area, do not under-plan the time you spend there: There is so much beauty and fun to see and enjoy in this corner of Oz!
