Fantastic park with playground
Apr 2021 • Family
This is a fantastic playground in the green, lush hills of Eltham. Toilet block, two electric BBQs, plenty of shade, great climbing and play equipment with a distinctly musical theme. Easy parking, or a short walk from Bunnings. Bike track and the train line run alongside the park.

Big park along the Diamond creek
Dec 2019 • Solo
Lovely park to walk the dog along the creek, ride a bike or take the kids to a fun playground
Handy to the skate park and library. Historic Shillinglaw cottage is quaint for a coffee or meal and local artists woodwork and sculptures too it off.

Something for everyone

We live local and have been coming here for years..Allistar Knox park is an area designed with a natural Bush feel to it, relaxed and in a natural setting...Lots of play equipment for the little ones.. a pond to feed some duck.. native plants around the place with wildlife at times, great path ways for a walk or bike ride.. my teenagers do Pokemon Go stuff here..there is a library, worth a look even if you are visiting the area as it is done in a local mubrick style which Allistar Knox is famous for..2 coffee shops near library.. a footy oval through the Carpark and under the train bridge for a kick if you feel like it.. about a 10 minute walk into Eltham shopping district and train station.. in another direction there is a local skate park (right next to Bunnings)... so maybe through everything in the car and check it out...

Bouldering wall a mix of challenge and attraction Alistair Knox would be proud of
Apr 2019 • Couples
I was sitting in Shillinglaw appreciating the view of the Alistair Knox park, especially the rock climbing apparatus which is a mix of plastic and wood shone up to look like a rock over the Main Road.

Other attractive equipment includes the teeter-totter which is big enough for about four to six children and the three swings.

Four sculptures of iron and steel humans are in the Alistair Knox Park. The tallest one reminds me of the Eltham logo when the town was still a Shire. It is probably a good location to get a selfie or two.

Easy to moderate walk in the Diamond Valley Trail near the bridge which takes people on the Hurstbridge line.

The Alistair Knox Park grounds are extensive and there is also a Bicycle Motocross track near the Diamond Creek.

Towards the Creek would make for a good walk - that takes you near the Australian football ground and the rugby ground and the bowling green in a rough horseshoe pattern.

Then there is a hill to climb again. It has a moderate slope from the well-made asphalt path.

One of my favourite things to see was the platypus mural on one of the walls. Really good reference point. [as there is a platypus of wood in the Alistair Knox Park itself].

And it is possible I saw children from the library and from Shillinglaw in the Alistair Knox Park doing different things.

Tadpoles!!!
Nov 2018
Another reason to love this amazing park. After visiting the great cafe nearby we checked out the wetlands and spend a long time just watching the tadpoles. My son was was enthralled and was too as I hadn’t seen tadpoles in years

Great place for a BBQ; playground for the kids, small lake for ducks, etc. Eltham festival weekend after the Melbourne Cup each year is a great event in this park

Quiet Stroll

Go for a wonder along the creek, take the kids to see the ducks (please don't feed unless you have the appropriate food).
Great playground for the grandkids. Sit above the path and watch the trains rattle over the wooden bridge.

A good place to take kids
Jan 2017 • Family
Near the centre of Eltham - a 10 minute walk. The park is fairly large and has a good children's playground. Cafe opposite is child friendly. Plenty of open grassland and a large duck pond.
