This place we found as a chance drive by. They specialize in honey mead and ports that's why we had to stop as my hubby loves both. Another very welcoming little place, of course we had to try it all. If you are into these drinks you will love their stuff. Came away with a few bottles and before we left went for a little walk around down back as they have a lot of history to check out with a lot of murals to delve over. Another must visit in Barossa.

It's hard when you meet nice folk, such as at Chateau D, to be critical. However, their wines are worse than any $8 wine you'll buy in a liqour store, except theirs cost $15 - 30.

This place specialises in honey mead, which is a honey based wine that is served either warm or chilled, only a few places make Mead on South Australia.
This place makes the best, spiced Mead to me- taste like Christmas in a glass. They also have another one I love that taste like Jaffas. Highly recommend for wine and Mead lovers.

Chateau Dorrien caught our eye as we were driving around the Barossa Valley yesterday. We arrived early not long after the doors had opened and were greeted by the warmest greeting. Genuine feeling of being welcomed. We had explained to us what Chateau Dorrien wines were about and some local history. We then started a taste of the whites and reds before trying the Mead varieties. The wines are fantastic and OMG when we got to the Meads they are to die for. This is a fantastic cellar Door to stop off at and try there wares. If you are doing a scheduled booked tour insist that your driver stops off here. Fully recommend the experience

A different experience than that offered by other wineries visited, as this one specialises in mead, which is a must try. We ended up taking away 3 bottles but would have bought more if not for our worries about getting the stuff back home on the plane. If you're a chocoholic the Scarlett mead will win you over for sure. The whites we tried were also very nice, bought a lovely Riesling at a reasonable price. Friendly place too, we had a lovely chat with Vic about wine and other things. Recommend you stop here, you can't miss it on the main road between Nurioopta and Tanunda.

If you want to try something memorable visit this place not just for the Mead which is out of this world with my the favourite spicy mead but the memorabilia - a step back in time. Awesome place to visit.

Yummy ports and meads, especially the spiced mead served hot for tasting. Friendly staff who know their products. We went back a second time :)
