We had traveled a long way and waited a long time to visit Bethany.
Having heard the name but not sampled their wine I was keen to experience the recommendation we had been given.
Unfortunately we were disappointed.
Being a group of 8 we had pre booked the visit and ordered our platters so expected some sort of explanation of what we were sampling but none was forthcoming to the point that our host seemed almost disinterested in both us and his role.
It was a shame as so many of the reviews had had such positive comments.

Hi Cas, Thank you for your honest feedback, and I do apologise that your experience at Bethany Wines was not as you expected. We do pride ourselves on providing excellent service, and looking after our customers.
Normally, on each day at Cellar Door we have two staff members however as a perfectly honest answer, we are finding it difficult to find staff at the moment, and have only had the one staff member for the past couple of months. This seems to be a familiar situation for many of the local wineries and restaurants who are also looking for service staff.
Please let us know if you do plan to visit us again and so we can look after you. Cheers Tania Schrapel

Called in here looking for a bottle of white port and found 2 very nice ports. One was a Tawny port and one was a port fronti which is a very pale port which is called white port. Even the wife like this one and she’s not a port drinker, she liked it that much she treated me to 2 bottles of it. The lady serving us couldn’t be more helpful and explained everything we were trying. Outside the views are brilliant but you do have to climb a steep slope to get the best view.

It has been a while between visits and it seems the only change has been a new winemaker and slight change in the platters. The venue remains the same and the views as lovely as ever. The wines never disappoint and the sommelier had great knowledge of the wine history, soils, and climate, hence the grape varieties and
final bottling. The scenery is superb, the wines are amazing, and it is a 'must visit ' for the serious Barossa fan. We love it and we will be back!

This is an old winery which is in a wonderful spot. You can climb to the top of the hill and have a great view over the valley. The place has red wines full of refinement rather than brute strength. One of the institutions of the Barossa

A must visit in the Barossa, steeped in historical stories and of course spectacular wines. We were treated to absolutely fantastic service, despite how busy the cellar door was. The team were fantastic and the wines are delicious and well priced. Don’t miss the chance to climb to some of the best views in the Barossa

Not a well known brand but good quality and range (and price). Cellar door very nice and staff informative and engaging, not pushy.

Spending a couple of days in the beautiful Barossa Valley my partner and I visited Bethany Wines' cellar door for a little tasting and lunch. The day was an unusually warm winter's day and the drive across the valley and up to Bethany was very pretty. We were made welcome by the friendly staff who guided us through the tasting of their new vintages, all of which were excellent. For lunch we enjoyed their platter of cold cuts, cheese and crackers, and dried fruit. This was nicely complemented by a bottle of the 2017 First Village Shiraz Cabernet. The views across the valley from the cellar door are sensational and we normally enjoy these from the tables out the front but today was a little windy and we ate inside and still had the great views. This is a great place to visit. The wine is first rate, the staff are a delight and it's just a great place to eat lunch.

A most memorable visit to this small winery.
We arrived at the winery on a Trail Hopper tour, without having had breakfast in Adelaide, due to a no show by the taxi company. We explained the scenario to the female staff member & that we really wanted something to eat, before we commenced consuming wine. She was most obliging & in about 20 mins had organised a beautiful platter for us + 2 glasses of Semillon wine. The cost $40 had been negotiated for Trail Hopper customers. Just prior to departure, we also sampled the Cab Merlot; a stand out. The lady providing the tasting was most knowledgeable & obliging. Highly recommend this little gem.
