- Gezzabelle26Sydney, Australia53 contributionsFabulous Family WineryWe visited Kies on a organised one-day Barossa tour. Very hospitable staff guided us through our wine tasting and the wines were great! It’s the first time I’ve been to a winery where I really liked every wine offered and purchased a mixed case to be sent home interstate for just $10. Monkey Nut Cafe for lunch hit the spot with tasty, delicious food. My new favourite winery!Oh awesome Gezzabelle!! That's so fantastic to read. Thanks so much for your kind words, we're so happy to be your new favourite winery! Enjoy your wines :)Written October 3, 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 3, 2023
- Carla P3 contributionsComprehensive experience from the exceptional wine to great food and unique winery. We were welcomed for a group tasting without having a booking by a friendly, knowledgeable and engaging host. The wines were exceptional with a balanced variety catering for most palates. Attention paid to ensure each wine reaches full potential setting it apart from other wineries. Restaurant served great food, each dish was tastefully presented and was delicious. Quality and interested tea room selling beautiful mugs, cups and tea pots. Large variety of tea leaves for sale. Option available for a picnic on the grounds, selecting food and wine for your basket. We can’t wait to go back!Oh this is so awesome to read Carla, thanks so much for your kind words. The wines were superb with layers of stories behind their origin coupled with other historical elements explains the staff. The only thing I wished was there was more souvenirs that I could buy to remind me of the place. If ever in the area you should drop by.Oh thanks so much Abbie, that's such a lovely review. Lunch at the Monkey cafe was delicious, service was great. We then did some wine tasting, Sam was great. He was very entertaining and informative on all the different types of wine. Ended up buying a couples of bottles of the merlot.

We booked a wine tour at Kies for my brothers birthday, it was an amazing experience. Our tour was guided by Bronson who showed us his art of wine making, from grape to bottle, all questions welcome and none too silly. We were offered many tastings along the way including some straight from the barrel. I can't recommend this tour highly enough. The tour was booked for an hour slot, but we were there talking to Bronson for three hours. It is fantastic to see the passion this family owned and operated business has for their product. The wines that this family produces are the best I have come across and I will definitely continue to recommend them to everyone.

We visited Keis Family Wines on Saturday 4th September and was met by Sam who was very knowledgeable and went out of her way to make the experience memorable for our group of six. Arriving just before 10.00am we were seated for our tasting at the cellar door. It probably helped that we were the only group there at the time although the service provided was excellent. The wines we tasted were of very high quality and every person in our group vowed to go back again. It kicked off our day very nicely and was the highlight of of day. We would recommend Keis to anyone who wants the best wine tasting experience as it was faultless. Sam even took the time to take a photo of our group even though other people had started to arrive.

We went to Kies a few months ago for an impromptu tasting session. Jess looked after us and was very generous with the number of wines we tasted. We felt right at home and didn't really want to leave. Jess recommended we try the Monkey Nut Cafe, but unfortunately we had no time during that visit. Not to worry, it just meant we'd have to go back. So go back we did ... with 4 friends in tow. The food and service were excellent, as was the atmosphere. While we waited for our meal, we checked with the cellar door to see if we'd be able to do a wine tasting. To our delight we could, so after our lunch we walked next door to the winery where our tasting was ready for us. The staff member who looked after us was great - funny, friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable.
While talking with her, she mentioned that they were having live music outside for a couple of hours (a sunset session), so we decided to check that out. What a great way to end the day - fabulous wine and great music.
One of our group actually said that this was one of the best days out she'd ever had!!!
Having now been there twice, I wouldn't hesitate about going back again or recommending it to others. We've visited many wineries over the last few years, but Kies has something special.

My friend and I booked a Winery Tour through a company called “A Wine Wagon” Kies winery was the first winery we visited, which did not disappoint.
Lily who was our host for our visit had a vast knowledge of the wines available for tasting. She was able to recommend the various wines and answer any questions that we had. Lily was very friendly and we enjoyed this experience.
We would certainly recommend to others to have Kies Winery on their to do list.
Thanks once again.
Kind regards

Kies has become our go-to place to relax, refresh, and celebrate. The Monkey Nut Cafe was recommended by a work-mate for my husband's birthday, and since then (May 2021) we have been back at least once every 8 weeks.
We love coming out and sitting at the "romantic" table with it's incredible views of the winery and estate. The food is fantastic (especially the "drunken chicken" and "salt & pepper squid", and the chocolate cake is to die for), the staff is ridiculously friendly and makes us feel like family.
My husband has well and truly fallen for their tawny port, and I love their deerstalker merlot and shiraz. The Sparkling Tina we now use to celebrate everything from our birthdays, to our anniversary, to just because.
We've even booked in for my husband's 50th birthday in the Gazebo, and eagerly look forward to our next visit.
Thank you, Kies Family Wines, for making us always feel so welcome.

An enjoyable visit to Kids Family wines. Very friendly staff who were able to give background to the various wines and stories of the beginnings of the winery. The wine tasted was generous and expansive and the wines were very good. Something for everyone. Additionally the refills of the Ruby wine for my port barrel was most appreciated.

A fantastic cellar door located in the heart of the Barossa. So many glorious varieties, provided my a knowledgeable and enthusiastic team who genuinely want you to have the best experience. The Tawny wines are something special and an absolute essential tasting and purchase!!
Also worth mentioning that you can purchase 2-5L bulk wines at fantastic prices and get discounts for bringing the bottles back for refills, which was popular amongst the locals.
I’d highly recommend visiting and I will certainly visit again when I’m back in the Barossa.

A visit to Kies Family wines is a must-do when visiting the Barossa. It's beautiful, and a visit to the tasting room will not leave you disappointed. The family is passionate about the wine they produce, and their home... And it shows. Really enjoyed learning about their history, and look forward to many more bottles of Kies wine!

For visiting us here at Kies Family Wines and for your very kind words. I must admit I do tear up when I talk about the history of The Kies Family sometimes and the thought of what these early settlers went through to migrate from Germany and begin a new life in a very different country. We are all glad they did though as we wouldn’t be here today and doing what we do.
We hope you visit us again soon and are pleased you are enjoying our wines .
Cheers Tina
