Cook monument
Apr 2021 • Couples
Definitely worth a quick look to see the Cook monument, when he was still a Lieutenant and not a Captain. A nice bit of history and some great views

For history buffs only.

The cairn marks the spot where James Cook blazed a tree in 1770. The tree was destroyed about 40 years later, and the cairn built in its place. The interpretation boards are interesting and well done.

Nothing special
Feb 2021 • Couples
It was hard to find and it’s a long walk from the marina or beach area and really there’s not much to see

Walk or drive
Oct 2020
There is a good waterside walk to the monument or you can drive and park. The monument pays tribute to Captain Cook and his landing in the area

Nice memorial
Aug 2020
This is a plain but nice memorial to the man we can thank for claiming Australia for Britain instead of the French or Dutch.

Nothing too exciting but cool to know we were in the spot Captain Cook landed. Nice little scenic walk in that area.

Captain Cook Memorial Landing site
Jul 2020
The Captain Cook Memorial is a short divert off the road to the headland. Not a lot of parking, but is also adjacent to a structured walk which can take you from headland to the parks in 1770.

Unremarkable given it feels cramped into a small space instead of being a larger tribute to this historic landing site, but worth a minute to visit.

Historical spot
Aug 2020
I love historical places. And there's no doubt this is one, whether you like it or not. This is where Cook's men walked around and Banks collected his plant specimen. From the cairn, look down and imagine where they would have anchored the Endeavour before rowing to the cove. Walk to the water's edge and look up. What a wonderful spot.
