I was expecting more .. the statue is quite bland and uninteresting .. and looking very lonely standing on a corner. I was more interested in the pedestrian traffic lights which had the silhouette of Mary Poppins - red with her umbrella down - green...More

I'm not quite sure what I was expecting...maybe something bigger and not on a street corner. It was a nice statue but I'm glad we were driving through the town at the time and didn't head to Maryborough just to see the statue.

Much to the surprise of visitors PL Travers (author) created this much loved character and was born in Maryborough. Each year a Mary Poppins festival swells the city’s population.

A lovely reminder of the talent found in unexpected places. The Mary Poppins statue in front of the bank (where the author grew up) as her father was the manager. A story so English, but actually written P.L.Travers here in regional Queensland about her aunt...More
