We did the tour of heritage Ipswich. Our tickets said pick up by the information centre (didn't know where that was as a visitor) but it was down near the zoo - the other side of the park. Bus was late, no mic working took 15-20 mins to sort out. Lunch orders were taken at morning tea. Lunch meal came out in drips and drabs, some people were finished while others were still waiting. Arrived at the Incenterator 30mins late, the bus took off leaving people to walk back to their cars down near the cafe. I have knee problems and this didn't help. The tour was supposed to be from 9 am to 3.30 pm. We finished at 3 pm. Was disappointed in this trip as there didn't seem to be communication between council departments. I did enjoy seeing the old houses and learning their history.

We dropped in to the visitor center to get extra info about the Ipswich region because we will have visitors staying with us from Canada and want to show them around. We have lived in the area all our lives. However the person who helped us at the visitor center had lots of helpful information including brochures to help choose what to see. A bonus was the Possum with it's baby at the back of the building.

From the time of booking my tickets till I got off the bus yesterday the staff from the Ipswich Visitor Information Centre made the day very memorable. The ladies that organized the trip where very helpful and on arrival and boarding of the bus we were welcomed and assisted with any help we needed plus a beautifully presented book of the homes we were to visit. The homes were amazing. A big THANK YOU must go to the organizers of the tour, the commentary and knowledge of other landmark homes in Ipswich as we meandered our way around the sometimes narrow streets was fantastic, Our Lady bus driver who had some of the men holding their breath as she perfectly manoeuvred her 50 odd seater bus down these narrow streets a big thank you. Morning Tea on the veranda of the Information centre was enjoyed by all. Thank you to everyone which includes the people who opened their homes for a wonderful day. Bernice

This is the place you need to visit to see exactly what is happening around Ipswich & surrounding places. I have been quite a few times, with the staff only too happy to answer any questions & handing out brochures.

What an incredible experience! The tour guide was lovely. The gardens are gorgeous. And the Japanese Tea Ceremony was an exquisite slice of Japan's rich cultural history. I will return đź’—

I have been to this centre a few times now and the excellent service is consistent. Yesterday I took two guests to the centre to have a short break on their Ipswich and surrounds tour. As always the service was impeccable, but what was really a lovely surprise was the care and attention to detail for the morning tea - lovely clean and sparkling crockery, served on a spotlessly shiny silver tone tray, tea made with proper loose leaf tea (heaven!), good ground coffee, and the simple offerings of raisin toast, banana bread and muffins served just the right temperature, delicious and beautifully presented. Nothing was too much trouble....we arrived by motor-trike and needed a bit more room for spreading out helmets and jackets so tables and chairs were moved for us. My guests enjoyed looking around and even buying some gifts for friends. It is really good to go somewhere that is convenient for parking and access for mobility impaired visitors, with nice clean amenities and happy smiling faces to greet us and then send us on our way. Thank you ladies, it was a pleasure!

Hi Francis,
Most customers love the rare times we are quiet as it gives the volunteers time to fulfill your needs. I'm glad we could help you with a cup of coffee and the map you were after.

Great place to get all your information about the local surrounds and a must for visitors and locals alike.
The staff are great to talk to and parking is plenty.
we got more than we expected and recommend this Visitor Information Centre to everyone. Even backs onto Queens park so grabbing a picnic or going for a walk is completely on the cards
Take time to visit and you'll get more than you expected.

Hi Ian G,
Great to read that you are an enthusiastic advocate for our Visitor Information Centre. Not only is it a wonderful Queenslander style building but, as you mentioned, the staff are full of information and there is a wealth of printed material as well to take away with you.

I called in on Thursday afternoon seeking a city map and information about walking around historic buildings. There were no maps that accurately showed which streets could be walked up.
I did get a brochure IPSWICH CITY HERITAGE TRAILS which was last updated in 1991 and which included only half the map and description of the trails. Unfortunately I did not realise this until I was back at my accommodation.
There was no advice about what I could do during my time here.
