About
Tucked away in Ipswich's gracious and historical Queens Park is Nerima Gardens - Japanese gardens designed in consultation with Ipswich's Japanese sister city, Nerima. This idyllic retreat is a wonderful way to wind down your visit to Queens Park or take a break between enjoying its other numerous attractions. The picture-perfect self-contained gardens sit behind the historic caretaker's cottage and feature a series of winding paths through fir trees and Australian native plants - some of which are indigenous to Ipswich. There, you'll really appreciate the serenity and aesthetic beauty of the pretty flowers, and experience a model traditional Japanese tea house and a small verandah overlooking a stream. There are also boardwalks over an ornamental lake where you can feel the tranquillity of being serenaded by constant running water.

Disappointed
May 2021 • Couples
It’s been a year since we visited and we were shocked to see the amount of flying foxs and they have taken over this once beautiful relaxing peaceful garden it now stinks and is too noisy to even hear yourself think. The council have even closed pathways around the gardens not worth the drive now

Wonderful feature for the Ipswich region

We go to Nerima Gardens often and always enjoy the manicured, zen, Japanese gardens. Kids love the tea house and waterfall.. Beautiful to go to when the Christmas lights are on. Plenty of parking and combine with a trip to the nature centre too.

Stunning gardens in Queens Park

Extremely pretty gardens in Queen Park. It's nice to stroll the bridge over the ornamental lake. The kids loved running ahead along the paths.

We have been a few times and its always beautiful, we had our wedding photos done there in October when the Jacaranda trees were in full bloom. This site is a credit to Ipswich.

Gorgeous gardens
May 2019 • Couples
It's inspiring to just enjoy the sanctity of nerima. To watch the endless number of water dragons, stroll around the pond, look at the tea house; a pity it can't be transformed into a functioninfmg tea house. Sadly No one can get married in there due to fear of damage..which is understandable. A must visit for all.

Nerima Gardens: Relaxing Peaceful Experience!
Apr 2019 • Couples
Nerima Gardens seems to lack the popularity of Toowoomba's Japanese Gardens. Nerima is much smaller, but also often quieter and less crowded.

The Japanese sense of subtle style is well expressed, probably just lacks a bit of scale. But remains a beautiful place to visit.

It's a haven or local wildlife being in the heart of the old City.

There are plenty of spaces for quiet relaxing or reflection. And many find examples of trees and shrubs you dont see every day.

Nerimm Gardens, probably not a destination in itself, but taken as part of the Queens Park experience It's highly recommended.

Pack a picnic and find a cool quiet space in the many opportunites that abound.
