About
1770 Distillery was established as a Boutique Distillery to utilise the locally grown fruits of the area and to provide a unique experience for both locals and tourists. It was John's dream to have a distillery and that is what led both John & Debra to the beautiful seaside Town of 1770 / Agnes Water in Queensland. The dream materialized after being bitten by the distilling bug whilst living in Tasmania. It was there that both John & Debra developed their distilling skill under the ever watchful eye of both Bill & Lyn Lark of the Lark Distillery.

Meet the distiller himself as you sample
May 2021
It’s the people you meet in local business who can make or break the experience. John the distiller presents his 1770 Distillery and products in a most engaging way. Whether you fall in love with the liqueurs or not, you will appreciate what goes into boutique distilling.

1770 Distillery n Plant Nursery
May 2021 • Couples
Looks can be deceiving as a plain Jane front entry to the most friendly and welcoming host. Then there are the special fruit liqueurs with free taste testing and their origins. Attached to the distillery Cellar Door there is a coffee shop and plant nursery to help take in the relaxing ambience. We even got knowledgeable viewing of the nursery and also history of the Town of 1770. Big thumbs ups for a locally owned and manufacturing business .

Cheers n thanks

We didn’t even know there was a distillery in Agnes Waters but driving past we saw a sign and decided to stop in and glad we did
It is off the main streets and worth the visit

Great to sample and know local produce is used and all distilled on site

Best Distillery on the Qld Discovery Coast.
Feb 2021
The best way to enjoy the hidden power of fresh fruits.
The distillery offers four full flavoured blends. John, the owner, happily guides you through each of his special elixirs as he openly chats about his distilling history which started in the depths of Tasmania a number of decades ago.
It was good to hear how he works his magic to bring out the best of his unique liqueurs.
There is also a small (very tidy) nursery attached to the tasting room that is full of small potted plants that are just waiting to go home with you.
You are destined to take something very special away with you when you leave.

Must do in 1770
Feb 2021 • Friends
We came across 1770 Distillery on our way to the Paper Back Forest and what an amazing find. John was very welcoming, passionate and full of knowledge. We had a great time and are very happy that we can buy online for when we run out :-)

Fruit liquor

We stopped by the 1770 Distillery and we’re not disappointed. John is very passionate about his liquors and took us through the tasting process. We ended up with a bottle of the Spiced Orange and the Strawberry. Worth a visit

Friendly beyond words!
Dec 2020
John greeted us with a welcoming smile and provided a wealth of information. We learnt about the distillery process for the fruit liqueurs and had a tasting of each of the four products. John planted the idea- strawberry splash liqueur over ice cream! He wrapped up our visit with some local knowledge on the best fishing spots. 100% recommend popping in to sample and purchase this finely crafted local product.

What a great find!

We saw a sign on the road advertising the distillery and decided to take a look and we are sure glad we did. The distillery make fruit liquors and we did a tasting and all of them were delicious, but the strawberry was my favourite. The owner is friendly and I am sure if you visit you will leave with a bottle or two.

Great experience!
Nov 2020 • Couples
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the 1770 Distillery! The owner explained each of the flavours of the locally brewed fruit liqueurs & we had a delicious tasting of each!

Tastings were offered straight and with mineral water.

The owner suggested other local cafes to visit & we spotted him at his fish & chips tip!

Great, friendly experience!
