Litchfield is an easily accessible must do in the Top End. Generally prefer more secluded places but the beauty of Litchfield is hard to pass up. We camped in the 'Old 4wd campground' and as the name suggests, it no longer requires 4wd to access. There are also other Camp spots. The camp sites have bollards and vary in size.... More

1 1/2 hours out of Darwin is this lovely National Park full of rugged sandstone escarpments and lovely cool swimming holes. Our favourite was Florence falls with a waterfall and swimming hole surrounded by lush forests with a large amount of fish near you as you swim. Florence and Buley are connected by a 1.4km walk along a concrete path... More

Chose from waterfalls and creeks to swim in! All are fantastic!! Litchfield National Park is a truly magical place!!! Allow at least 3 days to enjoy a swim in each of the major spots. Please note- the walk to the Cascades upper pool is rocky and steep in places. I wouldn't recommend people who are unfit to go on this... More

It's small compared to some of the larger and more "famous" national parks in Australia, but it definitely has something to offer. While there are termite mounds all over the outback and northern Australia, the ones here have viewing platforms and special that they are the ones called Magnetic Mounds so more unique. Easy to park and view - and... More

We walked an easy 2 minutes from the car park to see Florence Falls from a look out above, but didn't swim there. They looked stunning from the look out above and being at the end of the wet season they were full of water. There were lots of people swimming below the falls, being such a hot weekend day.... We found the drive onto the park a bit same old and the scenery was nothing to rave about but there are some really beautiful parts once you are there which make it worth it.Wangi Falls is absolutely lovely and though we could not swim cos of crocs we really enjoyed the stroll down to the water and the walk... Our tour guide Rowan was fabulous, friendly, funny and knowledgeable. The tour included a boat ride with Pat, our own 'Crocodile Dundee' who introduced us to his jumping crocodiles, an amazing experience. We swam in pristine water holes and had prawns and champers whilst watching a wonderful sunset over Darwin before returning home tired but happy.

So many beautiful places and unlike kakadu they are all pretty close together! Some of the attractions were still closed as this is the end of wet season but a great day out.
