One of our favourite places on our Gaspé trip was Forillon National Park near the town of Gaspé. Forillon is a Federal National Park (as opposed to a Quebec National Park). The visitor's centre is located outside of the south gate and can be visited for free. It has a nice beach and a hiking trail.
Fort Peninsula is the only World War II shore battery that has been completely preserved and that is open to the public. Peninsula Fort was a major defensive position in the Battle of the St. Lawrence (where 23 allied vessels were sunk by German U-Boats). It was quite an interesting place to visit.
The area entered through the south gate is a beautiful area and the pictures do not really do it justice. The road does not not go to the point. There is a 10 km trail (that we opted not to take) that does.
The area at the north entrance to the park is a much shorter (and hillier) road that the south entrance but even more beautiful, in my opinion. I suspect that many skip this one because it doesn't look like much from the highway. Again the photos do not do it justice. The road ends at Cape Bon-Ami, which is definitely worth the short drive.

If you can only do one thing in the park be sure to go to the Cap-Bon-Ami lookout. We also continued up to the observation tower which gave a wonderful 360 degrees perspective but not everyone would be able to manage the hike up. You can’t book your day pass ahead of time but it seems there is no issue to access the park without prior day access arrangement.

We did two hikes in the Forillon National Park. The first one to land's end (from the last parking lot, it was almost 9kms). The nature is beautiful there in August. There were flowers everywhere. Arrived at the tip of the peninsula, there were quite a lot of birds and two groups of seals in the ocean. There are a lot of other hikes to do in the park. We had another short one to sea the Ste Anne's waterfall (30 mins). Nothing stunning, but pretty. If you plan to eat there, there are plenty of spots that you can choose with a nice view. However, be aware that you won't find a single bin in the park. Also, there are just a couple of toilets - which were so disgusting that many people were peeing in the wild. They should either limit the number of visitors or add decent toilets, in my opinion.

This park is just a real marvel. The most beautiful we have visited.
I recommend the Graves trail which passes many large beaches with superb views. We encountered seals, eagles, grouse, squirrels, a fox and even a moose! We entered through the south entrance and took the car back to explore the north.

Very vast area for different tastes. Walking, trekking, camping, cycling even swimming.
A walk to the "Bout du Monde" is a must. The trail is around 4 km each way, uphill and downhill.

This park is massive and we didn’t know what to expect. The hike to the lighthouse is exhausting and we hike a lot. The last km is straight uphill, it was a lot and the views at the end were nice but not as nice as others we have seen in this area. I guess for the effort it was a little disappointing however overall we enjoyed the park and spending $12 for the day was well worth it. We explored some beaches, drove the north side and walked down to the look off and beach however that beach was closed not sure of the reason. We walked/hired about 15km in total and felt it was an enjoyable experience we are glad we did. Tomorrow we are going to see the waterfall on our way out of Gaspé. The park must be absolutely beautiful in the fall with all the colours. Overall we definitely recommend doing it once.

Forillon National Park in Gaspésie, the end of the world from us in Quebec. Abundant, generous, green nature, a grandiose and spectacular setting, a well-kept national park and remarkably clean. Well-known Cap des Rosiers and Cap Bon Ami a place to discover with its natural beach to cool off.
Destination of choice to discover, enjoy the attractions of this beautiful region. Impressed by the fauna, flora and landscapes that are part of our Quebec heritage.
Good visit!

Beautiful hike to the end of the peninsular. The gravel road hike is easier to walk than the foot hiking trail. The Parc needs to put more chairs at the lighthouse. There were only two and we enjoyed them while others gazed enviously.

We had limited time, as we were on a tour from our cruise ship and had spent too long at other stops, so our time in the park was cut short.
We ended up stopping just at Cap Bon Ami. Here there are some walks and some great views. There is a walk to a lookout over the cliffs and beach. We could see a seal on a rock just off shore, and also many shags.
Would have loved more time in this park - worth exploring.

The park is very nice, good sized sites. We were in section E. You cannot walk anywhere, you need to drive to get to the trails. The services were very poor. There was no hot water in our section for the first 2 days of our holiday there. Then to do laundry, two out of the five machines were out of order, so quite a wait. Then the coin machine was not working either. On our last day, the water was totally out of service, no taps, no flushing. Not sure how long this lasted, as we left.

Was there a particular trail that you had success seeing moose on? In Cape Breton 2 of the trails were well known for seeing moose- made me curious about here. Thanks!

Hi Dmitry, did you stay at the Petit-Gaspé Otentiks section or the Des-Rosiers section? I'm interested in the Petit-Section but I was wondering about the distance between the parking area and the tents. Are the tents quite distanced from one another? Thank you for the info.
Written January 15, 2019
The tent sites are quite private. The sites are not in close proximity to one another.

Hi, can we get there after we tender a cruise ship in port .. arriving at 7 o’clock on Monday, October 15 . We depart at 2 o’clock . We would like to tour the park on our own but have no clue the cheapest way to go about it. Is there public transportation and what is the cost of the ticket .
Written September 1, 2018
Not sure where the cruise ship is landing. Right at the end of the Gaspe Peninsula. No public transit, you would need to rent a car. About 12 hours of driving from Quebec City.
