It's a really nice place were you can enjoy your family holidays. There are some mini markets and souvenir shop around in the area and many restaurants where you can enjoy traditional dishes. The beach is really nice for the kids.

if you go to the part of the beach right beside the harbour you will find a beautiful sheltered area with very shallow water suitable for children of all ages, our 1 year old could walk out quite far in it as their was no waves or stones . we snorkelled out and only had to go as far as the entrance of the harbour to find shoals of beautiful tropical fish and also a big octopus. keep going passed the entrance to the harbour and you will get to a big basin around the rocks where it gets to about 5 or 6 metres deep.
good watersports on the beach and also lots of tavernas right on the beach. one has a cildrens slide and play house which is great for keeping the kids happy while you have a afternoon drink

The name of the village means long beach, and it is indeed quite long. There are some small hotels very close to the sandy beach and about 20 tavernas, small family run restaurants between the port and the rocky end of the beach. If you consume something (even just a coffee) you will be offered with free sunbed and umbrella. Even in the end of September the sea was warm enough to enjoy swimming in. This region of Crete has the highest number of sunny hours per year.

Large beach that curves round the little town. Nice to swim from and some lovely tavernas behind serving good food.

We preferred the beaches to the eastern side of town (adjacent to the port) because they it lovely soft sand that was in a quieter end of town. Great tavernas and bars there too, awesome vista of the bay too.

Ideal seaside for daily swimming, sand bathing, relaxation. The rooms of the accommodation are actually on the beach and this is very helpful for ultimate enjoyment.

Brilliant beach that is calm and shallow. Great tavernas and eateries all along with a good choice of water sports at reasonable prices, for the more adventureous
Totally safe for a good long swim, a dip for none swimmers and shallow and calm enough for the toddlers to splash around.

driving from Lerpetra to here is a good 45 minutes but the road is almost empty around 34k to drive here but you wont be let down its ace.
having parked up at the Analispi end of markrigialos on the beach front we was greeted by pebbles .... but just over then is one of the best sandy beaches down this neck of the woods eastern crete side of the Libyan sea.
sun beds etc are only 5 euros here so thats positive.
sand is 11/10 for building sand castles for the kids and the sea shelves gently in.
if your not taking the sun bed option there are olive bushes to shelter under and plenty of locals took that option.
long sandy beach that swings into a large arc ideal for walking and getting the overhaul tan if that's your bag,
supermarket -coffee house- tavernas in the back streets plus at the west end of the beach snack bars ice cream outlet
highly recommended location to visit

Unforturnately we had limited time to spend here as we were on a long day's drive from our hotel in Hersonissos, via Agios Nicolaos, Gournia, Lerapetra, Magrigialos, Sitia and back to our hotel; not the best plan to soak in all the sights en route!
The beach was sheltered, quiet and seemed safe for families.
We enjoyed the brief visit and the lovely views of the bay with its bars, tavernas and hotels.

We love Makrigialos, we like to start our holidays here, it’s so relaxing the beach is shallow and sheltered, it is also ideal for families. There are bars if you want them. The prices are reasonable throughout.
