Visited with family theses magnificent mountains. It’s a great place to visit, specially for those interested in rock formations- geologists.

The small Elbe River-side village of Rathen formed our base for a three-hour 200 metre plus ascent of the basalt hills to view the Elbe Valley and the spectacular mountain formations. There are many great views and it's a photgrapher's paradise..

This was my first visit to the region and even though the weather was typically damp and foggy for the time of year, the landscape is very beautiful. Great for hiking (and climbing), I’ll definitely be back.

The scenery is magnificent especially when viewed from above. We had an inverted cloud in the morning and it looked as if we could walk over it.
