If you are there, take a walk across the stone bridge to the ancient fortress inside the Bastei, Neurathes. Its medieval origin and moreover, its location inside the impressive stone formations, the views from the small steel bridges that make up the walking tour -...More

First things first- Difficult activity for those with restricted mobility I visited this place during July this year. From Dresden you should take S1 and get down at Kurort Rathen. From there take a ferry to cross the Elbe. From there you can hike either...More

We travelled with 2 kids, one almost 4 and a baby. As recommended, we went relatively early (9am), which was after breakfast with the kids. The parking lot at the bottom next to the petrol station is not the closest, follow the P sign further...More

This is definitely one of the must-see sights in the region. An impressive construction paying tribute not only to the original builders, but also to those responsible for the Restauration and maintenance. There is a car park close to the bridge, a hotel/restaurant with a...More

The bridge is accessible only over many stairs. But we made it also with a stroller, so it’s possible. It’s a great attraction for free! It offers an amazing view over the Elbe valley and the landscape around. The position of the bridge is breathtaking...More

I was based in Dresden and took the train to Kurort Rathen (they run half-hourly). Just after leaving the Rathen station, heading for the river, I passed a tourist information office - very helpful lady who gave me a map and clear instructions as to...More

Not a comfortable experience for those with a fear of heights, but unquestionably a dramatic natural phenomenon. You can take good pictures without going too near the edge, while for those with nerves of steel there is the narrow bridge between the sandstone cliffs.

It is very interesting walking down and up the Bastei. Unfortunately on the morning we were there, mist blocked any view of the River Elbe. It cleared in the afternoon and The Bastei was visible from the River Elbe.

Definitely worth the trip up the mountain. I wish I could have also hiked throughout the area, however, I was with a tour group.

There is a multi sign post that if you follow it, you will be on the right track. Essentially you head towards the "back" of town, away from the river on the main road and the entry point is off to the left across from some... More
