From the parking area in Hammersbach, which belongs to the municipality of Grainau nearby Garmisch Partenkirchen, you start your walk through the "Höllental"valley. The first twenty minutes you walk along the "Hammersbach" stream. Then the path turns off, becomes a bit steeper and after one...More

Thoroughly enjoyed this hike. It was a treat to the senses. The water rushing over the rocks, and green plants contrasting with the grey rocks and cliffs. I'm a fast walker and the gorge part took less than an hour. You walk 7ish minutes from...More

It is about an hour steep walk on a good track from the hotel at the far end of the Grainau village (there is a parking lot), and there is small fee for going into in. Many small waterfalls could make you wet.

We hiked Hollentalklamm and Partnachklamm on consecutive days, in August 2019. While both seemed like great hikes when planning our trip (and both are), we had trouble deciding which one to do if we only had time for one of them. While Partnachklamm is a...More

This is a must do hike while at Garmisch-Patenkirchen. The gorge takes a bit of hiking to get to and costs 5 euros to cross (keep your receipt/pass if you are coming back the same way), and is very scenic, and much longer than Partnachlamm...More

It is worth the walk to see this narrow track along and inside the mountain (as some parts are cut into the cliffs). The water is rushing beside you and the views and experience are all around you, so if you can get there it...More

It was a super hot day (off season tho). It was the best weather for it to go as it is quiet cool inside the gorge & it does get quiet wet. Shorts are okay as you dry quiet quickly when you outside again. But...More

Impressive canyon and they have done a great job cutting out a path for visitors to walk along the river and see the gorge close up. It cost 5 euros to use the path, but well worth it. They are two ways to walk around...More

This was a great hike we did even that it was quite wet at times. But hey, this is next to a river, so it should be kind of wet if you think about it. But we did a 8 hour hike as some parts...More

You won't be able to hike in November! The Höllentalklamm is closed from October throu May due to the weather and snow conditions. Partnachklamm is opened all year so you should go for that. Greetings
