It is a basic botanical garden. due to pandemic, visiting areas were a little restricted. However, is a very quite and nice place to walk around. Take your time a climb high the hills because at the top you will find The Pearl of Puning-Xining TV Tower

... to relax and walk around especially in spring and summer after a cold winter in an altitude of some 2,200 m in the gate town to Qinghai highlands. And if you have more time, you shouldn't miss to see Ta'er / Kumbum Monastery located some 30 km south of Xining. To me t h e reason to spend more time in Xining, at least a full day, to savour Tibetian and Lama Culture.
You won't be disappointed and will take many photos. Taxi Fare to this 5* destination 80 Yuan, Entrance Fee 80 Yuan.

This wasn't what I was expecting. Sure there were some nice gardens at the bottom of the hill and in the conservatory but there were'nt any explanations or plant names and nothing that I hadn't seen before in a European garden ( that i recognized anyway). The Juniper and Cypress walk was totally uninteresting. There was a long walk to the top of the hill for a view but we did not bother with this.
