Quite nice
Oct 2021
It is located at some distance from Yinchuan city center, but it gives a good introduction to the scenery of Helan Mountains. Hardcore hiking it is certainly not -- think walkways and stairs - nonetheless, the walking path is a good 5km round-trip (probably about 1.5-2 hours, depending on your speed) and offers nice views and a decent opportunity for some physical exercise.

Like many sites in China, the visitor center (where you buy your tickets) feels a bit like a circus, and you have to take a ~15 minute shuttle bus to another visitor center that feels a lot like a circus. However, from there, the crowd thins out quite quickly once you start walking on the footpath (again, like many places in China). There is also a cable car, but I didn't have time to take it. It was much more crowded.

An adventurous person might be able to find a better hiking trail which really allows you to explore the Helan Mountains, but this is really not a very popular activity in China, so this park is probably the closest it gets.

Beautiful views
Nov 2019 • Couples
We visited this sight as we were already in the area for the Xixia tombs. At the entrance there is a ticketing booth and a very clean bathroom. The ticket includes entry and a 15 minute bus ride to the base of the mountain. The bus passes the creek bed and if your lucky you will see a few grey mountain sheep.

At the base of the mountain there is a skii lift which will take one to the top or take one back down. Although there is an older concrete path to the right side, the new set of wooden steps behind the lift follow the path up the hill. This path takes about 30 minutes.

At the top one has the choice of further hiking to the Center Tower and Rabbit grotto or walking across the gorge on a wire bridge.

Pretty views either way.

A lot of hiking, be sure to cross the hanging bridge
Jul 2019 • Friends
This is a vast park. We did one trail up (1.6km) and another trail down (2.8km). The highlight is a hanging bridge where you can see the 360 degree view of the Helan mountain range (and feel your legs shaking too :-)

Nice place for a hike
Aug 2018 • Solo
The entrance is 60 yuen and you have to buy a bus ticket for another 20 yuen. The busroute towards the start of the hikes is about 10 km and there is no sidewalk so it is recommended to get the bus ticket. We tried the hike which is straight ahead when you get at the starting point (big stairs with flowers attached to it). It was a really nice walk (lots of steps) but we could not go to the top since 6 months ago part of the road had collapsed. We then tried the other stairs which goes parallel with the cable car. There was a group of acrobats close to the bridge who was doing acrobatics on a bicycle on a rope all the way to the other side of the gorge. There were a few treks from there which we did not follow since we ran out of time. We had a really nice day up there and it was defintely worth going. We rented a car for the day, and I think that is better because there were not a lot of taxis around. There are some small shops and toilets at the starting point of the hikes where the bus drops you off.

Best nature views and hikes in Yinchuan hands down
Apr 2018 • Friends
Really lovely spot and probably my favourite in Yinchuan. Easy to hike up to see the bridge or take cable car. Highly recommended for nature lovers in China, where a lot of attractions have been disturbed and not so natural. Must see!!!

It’s ok for hiking
Dec 2017 • Friends
It is a beautiful mountain. The cable car doesn’t work in winter so you need to hike to the bridge. View from there is beautiful. There are lots of wild goats on the mountain but apart from them and two dogs didn’t see any animals. One side of the mountain is green while the other is only stones which makes it different from other mountains I have seen.

Reaching the Park is difficult but once there, the atmosphere is so peaceful that it appears to be worth the trouble.

Day ruined by unhelpful guards
Nov 2016 • Friends
This park is stunning with several trails, features (bridge) and areas for picnicking.

Due to it being the winter season (although 20 degrees) the chairlift was closed. We were dropped off in a car park (along the green route in between two hotels) with no instruction or guidance and left to wonder around. After 20 minutes of walking down deadends, a Chinese couple we were following asked for directions to the correct path only to be told by the guards that there was nothing. The bus came shortly after to pick us up and we all (2 English 6 Chinese) left the park.

The next day we spoke to friends who told us that the path was behind the chairlift building and that they managed to trek all day in the national park seeing the sights (bridge).

Extremely disappointed with the lack of interest, service and guidance offered by the guards when asked. Put up signage if your staff are too lazy to do their job.

Paid full price for an hour of nothing.

My favorite nature spot in Yinchuan
Apr 2015 • Friends
I've lived in Yinchuan for 7 years. This is my favorite place to experience nature and get away from the city. You have to pay to get into the park (around 60 rmb, half price for with a student ID). Then you can take your own car or a park bus up into the mountain valley. Once your more deep into the mountain range it gets more lush with tall evergreen trees. It doesn't feel like Ningxia once you get into the interior of the mountains. Lots of climbing trails and a chair lift to get you higher up.
