After many years of reconstruction and rebuilding this Yangzhou government does understand that roots of the people should be there. Therefore an upgrade was made for parts of the city and the Ancient Canal was one of them. A good shot and a very nice attraction to visit at daytime but also at nighttime.

This wonder of ancient engineering now days determines the boundaries for the Eastern and Southern Part of the center of modern Yangzhou and marks the respective borders of the old city. You could enjoy a nice relaxing walk preferably on the pedestrian street along the west bank right next to the water, from Dongguan Gudu (Wharf) to "1912" Entertainment and... More

We took the cruise on the canal. It is a nice way to travel through the city, but today the canal is lined mainly with parks and modern buildings that don't relate to the canal. If you are looking for historic warehouses and other features of a living canal, you will be disappointed.
